Hi,
Please could some one tell me it mr pindell is still alive???
The reason for this is that i have just bought of e-bay a ferris pindell neck turner!!!!

Being interested in benchrest and learning so much from the people on this fantastic site,,,, When i seen this item for sale i just had to have it!!! The only problem is that it only comes with one 6mm mandrel and i load for 30 cal aswell, so i would like to have a 30cal mandrel aswell if that is possible???

I am useing a k&m at the moment,,, That work fine so the ferris one might even just stay in the box,, As a keep sake???

The chap bought it of ferris in the late 70,s!!! He bought two actualy but never used the one that i have bought???

Could any of you guys give me some info????

All the best from Wales, Darrel

Pindell

He was alive last year at the Supershoot. Several of us had a great conversation with him in our motel room at the Legacy Inn one night. He was staying there with some of his relatives. Don't know any particulars otherwise.
He was all fired up about some bullets he was working on.

The late TJ Jackson made some neck turners of Ferris Pindell's design (with his blessing). When TJ died, a fellow by the name of Walker ( if I remember correctly) was selling them.

I sure someone from down around Austin TX can point you in the right direction.

Very nice turners.

Ferris Pindell

Yes he's alive and well.
I have one of his point closure dies .
The one that closes the hollow point in a 6mm bullet.

Ferris Pindell was my great uncle. He passed away this morning. He was an amazing man that I will always remember. The last coherent thing I think he told me was "If I had it to do all over again I'd do it the exact same way". I hope I can say that one day.

Thank you for letting us know.....he was more than an inovator to those who knew him ....he was a GOOD MAN...Roger

I have a 6 PPC rifle that has F. Pindell on the barrel.
It shoots as expected.

Thank you Ferris ! :D

Ferris Pindel was my uncle. He died on April 11. During his eulogy, my cousin Steve relates the story of his leaving last years Super Shoot sitting in the car as he was leaving saluting the shooters saying "Good luck fella's, I won't be back again.". He was prohpetic in statement. He loved everyone of you. There will be none like him again. You were his family. Some of you may already know this by now, but I wanted you to know in case you have not heard. Larry Emsweller, Nashville, Tennessee

Hal,
When TJ Jackson passed away (seems it was around 94) I bought a lot of barrels, scopes, and raw materials. I remember completely loading up a 16 ft flatbet trailer. I remember meeting Walker. He was probably around 60 at the time. Walker spoke about the neck turners he was making. I don't know if he is still alive or not. He may have been working at Eaton in Austin. I do know that a good friend of mine (Charles Vahrenkamp) was a good friend of Walker. Charles lived in Bertram TX at the time, and probably still does. I guess it really is a small world.

Yes its with great sadness Ferris has passed. When I made my original post He was still with us.
Someone with a lathe should be able to turn out a mandrel for you.

A.J. Walker is doing fine and is a member of the Austin Rifle Club. When last I spoke to him about a year ago, he still has about 30 JACO (Pindell's clone)neck turners on hand. It is my understanding he no longer produces them. But...the ones he has on hand are for sale. I don't know if he has 30 cal mandrels for them. But Frank Wilson modified a 30 cal mandrel from Butch Lambert for me to fit mine (I won one at a ARC banquet). Of the several neck turners I've used, it is by far the best. You might try AJ @ 512 836 0203 in Austin.

Good luck,
virg
