Sorry if I am opening a can of worms here, but I am trying to learn. I am not a BR competitor, but I do have some good guns with tuners and of late, J&J Slides. I am match director of our Club's Old Farts Match which is held every Thursday and we shoot twice a month at bullseye targets from the bench at 100 yards on the Mini Palma target. The other 2 Thursdays we shoot 1/5th scale silhouette animals at 100 yards (chicken), 125 yards (pig), 150 yards (turkeys), and 175 yards (rams) from the bench. Our little group has gotten pretty tough, but so far I have the Club record at each type of match - but I am always looking for a better score as the competition keeps getting better.
I have been shooting Eley ammo of different types for years in the 1050 fps +/- 5 fps per the box data for years. I have just opened a new case of Eley Club (I thought it was 1051 when I bought it a a large Match years ago) which shows a speed of 1071 and it out shoots all my other Eley ammo in the 1050 range. I know that different lots shoot differently and I may have just gotten a lot than my gun really likes. I am currently shooting a custom Martini Mk III built by MT Guns with a Benchmade 3-groove 16.5 twist barrel and have just received a MT Guns Anschutz 54 that has not been to the range yet.
My question is this - have you found ammo in the 1070 range shoot better for you than ammo in the 1050 range?
