For what they cost the 452 is a very accurate rifle. It won't be competitive in Bench Rest with the custom actions you'd be up against.

The first target. After that you are no longer a beginner. You have now set a goal and all you have to do is try and better your scores each match. In the end, you will find you need better equipment, more expensive ammo and a bigger truck to haul all your equipment. This sounds like a joke, but after you really get hooked, there's more truth than not.

If you can find a club that shoots un altered sporter rifles in your area, either CZ would be competive and you could gain some experience. Also most club have a upper limit on ammo cost so you will save some there also. Wher I shoot, Wichita Air Capital Gun Club, they do allow some trigger work. Max

The 452 is better built than the 455 and the 452 has a threaded vs. pinned barrel in the 455, but both are about the same in accuracy...

455 barrels are not pinned, they use two set screws to mate the barrel to the receiver. Also some 452's were pinned I believe most if not all the 17HM2 rifles were pinned.

Hopefully, the 453 in 22LR, I am having delivered tomorrow will follow that trend and be threaded barrel to action as well.

I'll probably save the accuracy improvement attempts until after I see how it shoots "stock". I'm certainly not going to be playing around with parts replacements in the single set trigger until I think I more fully understand the design.

I have a 452 Trainer that I re-stocked and bedded with a Boyd's Rimfire Hunter and worked the trigger down to ~1 pound that shoots very well. The original stock was not at all scope friendly. Several of the guys that I shoot benchrest with do very well with the various 452's.
On the other hand, my 455 has never performed at all well even after bedding and re-stocking. Perhaps they have improved the newer ones, but I would put my money elsewhere.

I started with the same rifle you have and Bushnell variable power scope. I learned a lot about the basics of 22 benchrest shooting with that rifle. It is very accurate for what it is but it is not a true benchrest rig. After a while I moved up to a real competitor type rifle. I believe the CZ or whatever you have is a good choice for a starter.
