Just talked to Harley Baker. I was commenting about the 30-50 mph wind we're getting here in the East. Pretty nasty shooting conditions.

Harley was miffed that he had to work today, and couldn't shoot. He was hoping there was something left to the gale tomorrow, when he can shoot.

I guess this is the difference between a champion BR shooter and "also rans" like yours truly. Guys like Harley savor practicing in this stuff to experience the condition, and build confidence for match conditions.

Maybe it is more than a real good barrel to put you on top?

If all a shooter does is practice in "pristine" conditions, all he proves is that a good Benchrest Rifle will do what it is designed to do, put one bullet atop the other.

We are sort of lucky at Tomball. It's always crappy.........jackie

I see your crappy Tomball condition and raise you one San Angelo terrible condition(with berm to shoot over at 100yds.) :p

Shooting Conditions

Hey Jackie

Try shooting at our club here in Grand Prairie, Texas.

We have 100 & 200, very nice benches but we are stuck with stupid Baffels in front of us, Cinder block walls to our right up about 10' in height to seperate us from the pistol range, and a high road berm on our left and behind us.
If you have ever been to the Grand Prairie Gun Club you or anybody else will know what I'm talking about.

It is tuff and at the end of the day your flags are glad to be put away...
 
I'll one up you all, Come shoot Luther, OK one time and you will love where you shoot.
 
Every range has ghost, just ask the shooters. Every place I go somebody has a story about why their range is tricky.
Must be true as I can't shoot well at any of them.
