calfee tuner test or not

well, one good thing has come of this so far

the tuner theories lynn and i were working on actually more suited to long range shooting and they work .man do they work. i am sure there are advantages at shorter ranges as well.but how consistant only time will tell. so by changing up a few criterias and expected results i think we now are on a same track as bill so hopefully we can prove bill right. i am sure lynn will test as well . tim in tx

The type of metal used makes a difference because 4 ounces of alumium is different than 4 ounces of stainless steel in its dimensions.Bill Calfee was probaly reffering to Roger Von Aherns beautiful weight set of which I have two on hand. You can arrange them in any order such as 4 ounces of stainless next to 1 ounce of aluminum or just the opposite. You still end up with 5 ounces but its not the same.

I realise the frustration but hang in there as we are very close to seeing this experiment through.I didn't have the distance in front of the muzzle figured out but I do have every article Mr Calfee wrote and will simply look it up again. As you know Jay.Idaho built me a series of tuner bodies and they look fabulous. They are of a miriad of different lengths to fill in the gaps from what I already had.I feel I now have all the materials in my posession to complete my testing.
I will go to the nationals tommorrow with what I have on hand and take my chances. When I get back I will continue the testing under a no pressure no time constraint manner and send you my results.
I know from our conversations on the phone that this bertainly feels very close to a conclusion one way or another.
I actually don't mind Mr Calfee handing it to us in little pieces. It just means those that have kept a psitive attitude and are diligant will reap the bounty a little sooner than the others if there is a bounty out there.

Friend Wilbur

Friend Wilbur:

First off, Tim in tx......I'm sorry for having to get off the sugject of your thread here to answer friend Wilbur...

Friend Wilbur: I quote from you:

"Wilbur
"All good and I ain't arguing but...."
"Anybody thinking straight can see anomalies. "

My friend, the first thing I had to do was to look up the word "anomalies" in my dictionary......

I agree with you my friend, I don't think too straight........

Friend Wilbur, I'm one of them guys that takes a bite, lets it settle, studies some, then takes another bite, then lets that bite settle......that way I don't develop indigestion.......

Friend Wilbur, if you'll be patient, I promise I'll do my best to start "thinking straight" and then maybe I too can see them "anomalies" that "straight thinking" folks, like you, can see.....

Your buddy, Bill Calfee

No offense intended to Bill, but personally I think you and Lynn are much farther ahead in both theory and "hands on" experience with the "effective tuner" design
than Bill is at this point. Just my opinion. Good luck.

Another question - -

When a tuner is found that will allow bullets shot at two wide spaced velocities go through the same hole, does this mean that every shot at every velocity between those two extremes should go through the same hole also?

vibe and pete

yea vibe i am thinking the same thing lol, effective tuner sound like a great name for it.pete i think you are hopeing what i am hoping as well and will test that soon, so far it appears that way but the winds just will not let up enough to give me a chance to really put to test that all velocities between will go into the same hole verticly speaking at least.i will get back to that test when the winds let up and will post the results as well.by the way last week i opened up the variance to 1.2 from .8 grains at 1000 and the tuner was able to level them out as well. we will see if bills methods are viable with centerfire hopefully this weekend,if i can get the tuner mounted on my 6.5-284. tim in tx
