Buying Nosler 2nds be for warned

I want to start over. My first posting I was attempting write in irony( my attempt failed) regarding a great bullet........ I purchased 500 Nosler 2nds in .224 55gr BT. They had white tips. That was the only anomaly I could see. At the rifle range they shot like they were flawless out of my AR-15 RRAs coyote upper. Last Thursday in ELY Nevada desert a coyote came running to the call. At 104 yards that bullet stopped Mr coyote in his tracks piercing his throat leaving a ghastly bloody fatal wound. Coyote never suffered I bet he was dead before he hit the ground.I highly recommend Nosler 2nds.

Sounds Horrable!

With preformance like that I would just throw them out and not reccommend them to anyone! :D I will say you will get the occasional one that the tip will fall out or be loose.

Ginner, I dont think I would buy any of them if I was you.:):)

Just kidding around

But seriously those Nosler 2nds were awesome. That coyote was put down in his tracks. Waiting on photos developing. It was a 223 out of my AR-15 25.8grs of Bench mark seated to magazine length...................................

If they came in a plastic bag how do you know they were Noslers, not just some Chinese knock off???

Nosler 2nds

Nosler has been selling 2nds for some time,BUT they are clearly marked as 2nds and come in plastic sealed bags with a card inside denoting caliber ,weight .You cannot expect them to be a top notch bullet .Some of the defects are visual some are not (offset cores, loose or missing tips as an example) weight variations etc....... Dept of DUHHH they're FACTORY 2nds. BTW I saw a table at a show awhile back that was trying to sell them at an inflated price

I`ve been shooting Noslers 2nds for some time now in a few calibers, both ballistic tips and partitions, and haven`t any complaints.
Matter of fact I put together some 223 loads this afternoon with the 50 gr Nosler BT (2nd) over Benchmark for my Win Hi Wall. They will shoot as well as any bullet in this rifle.

dont be nieve

worker No, I mean NO Nosler BT bullet has EVER had a painted tip!!! they are polimer and the color runs clear thru the tip. nosler 22cal bt tips are orange and if one were to cut it in half it would be orange clear thru. sounds like the bt expanded as designed to me. i believe you got a deal! if you wanted a non expanding bullet, the nosler bt was a bad choice on your part as there are bullets made for pelt hunters, the barnes solids come to mind as they are solid brass, nonexpanding. Roger, I ve never seen nor heard anyone honestly claim to have had anything wrong with the Nosler 2nds, especially in regard to performance. Nosler claims they are fine except for blemishes. This is from Noslers web site.

Q: What is a factory second?

A: Nosler Factory 2nds are cosmetic blemished bullets. These bullets have nothing wrong with them performance wise. They might have a stain, scratch, or slight imperfection that make them a "2nd". These bullets are offered to you at a substantial discount.

I`ve seen some BTs with a canalure that were obviously over runs for a factory ammo producer or a couple of bags with wrong color tips for the caliber. A buddy once claimed he had some with loose tips but they shot OK. I never have had any though that appeared to have core defects, or accuracy wasn`t up to snuff as far as I could tell.
Then again I`ve been fooled before.......:)

I can't believe that you were able to buy any Nosler .224 seconds at all, given that my friend living outside Bend, Oregon buys them up as soon as he sees them. He tried to purchase the entire lot of blems and overruns. I asked if he thought he would live long enough to shoot them all, he said he'd try! :)

I bought a couple of bags of BT varmint bullet seconds for my 6.5x55. Slight areas of discoloration on the jackets but the tips were OK. They shot well and cost $5.00 less per 50 than the good stuff. The gun shop says they've been selling them for some time and no complaints.

I bought some of their 155gr 308 competition blems. They shoot OK but are very inconsistent in over all length. They vary as much as 0.15" in length and 2gr in weight. They do not shoot as well as 155 SMKs but at half the price.............oh well. :D

I quit buying them a long time ago,I was getting way too many marred jackets (looked like they went into the dies crooked) But it hasn't turned me off buiyng their Boxed bullets at all.I think I still have about 13 boxes 100ct 270s on the shelf:) .......I've had those awhile

Ive been to the Nosler showroom and they do have seconds, not many but some.

They may be overruns?? or the tips may be the wrong color or a little discoloration in the jacket.

Besides Nosler is there other manufactures that sell seconds/blemished bullets for less $'s ?
Centerfire

On the right day, you might luck onto some from Hornady, following a factory tour. The 6mm's I scored in early 2012 shoot fine.
