Bolt timing

I shoot

I am really happy with my Viper drop ports. I add a funky looking case deflector on the bottom of the stock to throw the cases into a tray on the right side of the bench so the cases are not under my left hand that is on the joystick. I did have one situation last Sat where a case got stuck in the drop port and the next fired case didn't have anywhere to go. I had to wiggle the cases to get them to fall through. You would think that the recoil of a 30 would shake the case out of the port. Has only happened this one time.

HBR rifles most of the time and they are required to have an operating magazine so a Drop Port is not opssible or not easily I don't think. I do like the concept and would consider one for a future LV rifle.

May I Knight Thee? I went shopping for a belt sander this morning and didn't find what I was looking for so I came home. I got to thinking; if a belt sander isn't too coarse and if precision isn't a big issue I have a diamond grinding disk for my Dremel hand grinder, I'll give that a whack.

Took the pin out of my BAT bolt and CAREFULLY ground a little bit off it so it was sorta flush with the tip of the bolt. Re-assembled and Oh GEE! Slicker than the proverbial messed up door knob! Not a hint of resistance.

I went up in order, the next longer and then the LONG one. All of em got real slick when shortened. Elapsed time: 14 minutes! Thank you so much for sharing Mike. Good on y o u.

Glad that it worked for you. Sometimes you have to give a little more spring tension to get reliable ejection once the ejector is shortened. It just depends upon how far the action is throwing the empties.

They seemed fine

The BAT has been a bit too frisky so I don't think needs any tweeking. The others seem to just plop them out beside the action, which is pretty much what I wanted. Thanks again. Pete

How Sweet it is !

Shot two of the rifles that I had ground the ejector pins on yesterday and both worked flawlessly. FINALLY, I the danged rifles work as I had hoped they would! Many thanks indeed.
