best places for 30br bullets.

I'm not promoting Speer TNT's

I'm just saying, it isn't right to have to pay the same price for bullets coming out of a machine opposed to the ones our Dear Bulletsmiths slave over. I don't understand why there isn't more empathy and understanding here with this issue. The only way to fix it is to stop buying them.

I bought 1k Bergers last year in a package deal that made them a lot less costly than normal. I measured them. They are no diffrent than any other machine made bullets I have ever measured.

Oh, and just to get another ding in on the freight, the Ammo boxed I ordered from California; a brand that aren't generally sold anywhere I have ever been. They came FEDEX Ground; 6 boxes, the shipping box is 12" square. I'll bet the shipping box weighes more than the plastic ammo boxes; only $16.54. Without the freight the boxes are $4.88 each. With freight they are $8.188 ! The freight is almost as much as the product. Nice, eh?

I am guessig Freight has quadrupled over the past decade. FEDEX does not write their charge on the box like others do.

but some of us think they are better than a speer or a nosler or etc. i have not had to buy any for a while, but i do shoot a fair amount of bergers. i plan on shooting them in my 1k gun. i shoot them in my 223 br gun cause they fit(yes i screwed up the reamer design..i had no idea that br 22's were so short). they are not cheap that is true, but they do shoot well. ya spends yer money and ya takes yer chances.

Fair price of bullets

Having nothing against Berger bullets and having shot a lot of them I have to agree with Pete
While the Berger bullets are excellently made and shoot good they cant be compared to the BIBs or any other CUSTOM made bullets and should be priced accordingly.

Looking for .25 Berger 87 gr in the Sinclair catalouge I saw that they were between $45-$50, dont remember exactly as no way am I going to shoot bullets at that price, specially taken into account that
when in my hands in Iceland the price would have about doubled making them about $1 per bullet:eek:

On the other hand price of the good old 6mm 68gr Bergers is about the same as the price of 70 gr Sierra MK. No doubt which I would prefer. But by the same token the 6MM Bibs or Brunos or any other 6MM
custom bullets are not far from there in price. No doubt either which I would prefer.

In my mind either custom bullets are underpriced or the Bergers and other factory made match bullets are owerpriced.

Reminds me a bit of two fellow shooters here, one had just bought a lathe and was chambering a barrel for the other. When seeing the bill the other just said "well I see now that the gunsmit is going to recower his investment on the first chambering job"

Pete and George,
I really don't care how bullets are made. I want to buy what I think is the best. I'm not going to get into an argument about which way is best. I don't care if a gorilla makes them. I will not pay extra for ones that I don't have confidence in, but I don't care how they are made, I will buy what I like.
Would you sit on the side and refuse to buy a good bullet because it is built by a robot and bypass a good bullet? I think not!

I like having these discussions. I think it great for folks to express how they feel. It's what makes America a pretty good country. It use to be a lot better, regretably. I truly don't care what others do . I have my view of life and wouldn't deny others theirs.

I use Bergers in my 6ppc.. work great and get the x's/ worth the price. I use a locally built custom 30 in my BR/ The guys name is the guy pulling the handle. They are no more expensive than any other makers and I can pick some up next weekend if I call, no wait time. He will take suggestions and make the changes for next year. They are available and they shoot nice little round holes. I also help keep a great shooter and friend in the game while he is unemployed .. Wouldnt matter if he pressed a button or pulled a handle, they are surely capable of shooting better than I can . I dont think I'm loosing X's because of them, More likely Driver error or the 20-30 mph winds we seem to have around 9:00 to 2:00 most Sundays. No disrespect to any bullet maker, if it were easy there would be no reason to buy bullets, We would all make our own. I have shot other makers bullets with no real magical differences. I also feel Jackie could come up with a load of Rice Crispies topped with a BB and whoop up on 95 % of us . Not that I would throw away my bullets and shoot his set up just because it won for him. Just my 2 cents.
