barrel cleaning questions

p5200--

Thanks for clearing that up. Even if you had coined that term -- and I see you did NOT -- I mean, that's not "wrong" or anything, but as I said, whoever "did" coin that term appears to have been very "bent out of shape" about the accutrigger. I do realize that some shooters just DO NOT LIKE THEM.

I agree that installing a good target trigger can be a real joy. I have a rifle I used for sporter class shooting with a Timney target trigger, and I love it.

One good thing about the accutrigger is that the customer can set it either light or heavy. Unfortunately, I don't think it can be set lighter than about 1.5 lbs. Mine seems reasonably crisp.

Thanks for clearing that up, and I am glad you like your rifles. Maybe with a good scope your glaucoma will not be too bad an impediment to your shooting. I myself am a senior citizen, and at this point I just "compete against myself" rather than get too ambitious.

Best luck --
Hi Pete, I bought a BSA 36X44 scope last month from Natchez for $65.00 I thought oh well, how bad could it be haha!. It was like looking through a mason jar full of murky water. :D But, I did manage to shoot a ten shot .5" ragged hole for a group at 50yds. with my CZ452 Varmint .22LR. now, where it will print the next trip, is anybody's guess. My daughters pooled their money and bought me a Nikon BuckMasters 6x18x40 for Father's Day to go on my Savage 10fp. not the best I know but does seem to be a decent scope and all I can do is bless their hearts, for thinking of me. Thanks! :)

What was your choice of 22 LR ammo to shoot your good group?

I might add about the AccuTrigger -- this is a two stage trigger with some take-up before it will break.

Just for the record, a number of successful rifles have had such a trigger -- I mean, with some take up before the break -- including the classic 03 Springfield, as well as the old Model 54 Winchester (predecessor to the Model 70 Winchester). A lot of matches were won by the old Springfields. Once the take up occurs, they break like any other trigger. Apparently, the anger is promoted by the quarter-inch of take up before the trigger firms up.

I used the cheap Federal Champion 510 as they call it, on Rimfire Central forum. most .22 guns I have shot them through seemed to really like them. The price jumped from $12.50 a brick to $25.00 course, its all gone up these days. but, I will still, pay $25.00 a brick as it seems to be pretty consistent ammo. :)
