From my experience with muzzle brakes that have an internal expansion chamber you will have to keep the length of the relieved section under 1.250". Any longer and gas passes the bullet hurting accuracy. That's with any hole/port pattern.

Anybody ever watch a high speed video of the bullet being passed by combustion gases that are traveling 7000-9000 FPS when the bullet clears the bore?
Not good for accuracy.

Didn't Richard Franklin make a 300wsm shooting light weight bullets with a deep recessed crown to shoot long range ground hogs..he claimed to have great accuracy and quieter muzzle report..??

I remember you mentioned in a thread some time in the past year that its best to keep expansion chambers under 1.5" regardless of the diameter. I took note of it and haven't forgot it.
