anschutz 64mpr vs suhl

I am new to rimfires and am looking into buying a anschutz64mpr or a suhl which i am having a hard time finding the suhl. My questiong is which one would be more accurate. I will most likely shoot in the local benchrest matches for now.

Just wait, another one will be up for sale before long. They are one of the finest used guns you can buy as a starter rifle for BR.
 
look for a good suhl, I dont know about the trigger on the 64mpr. but the suhl is as good as they get.
 
Anschutz 64 S BR

Benchrest stock and two stage trigger plus a magazine, or you can order the single shot follower and your good to go.
 
Take it from a MPR owner...

Get the Suhl :)

The MPR is ok as a starter gun but the Suhl will be better in the long run.

As a starter though the Anschutz 64 S BR would be better than the MPR for BR.
 
Suhl

I have two Suhl's and a few Anschutz target guns.

Good news about Suhl's

The triggers are some of the best ever made.
They usually shoot wonderfully at 50 yards with factory barrels.
The price is usually great.
If you shoot position, the adjustable cheek rest stock are good-to-go as is.
They command a respect over new factory guns.

Bad news about Suhl's

Parts are VERY hard to come by - they have not been built for 50 or so years.
Some have excessive head space (one of mine did) and this needs repair by a QUALIFIED Suhl smith as it is intricate work.
The barrel twist can be too slow for shooting much over 50 yards - mine are 1:19 and 1:19.5 twist and will NOT shoot past 75 yards. This can be fixed with a new barrel (can you say $$$).
Most out now are in pretty beat up stocks and either need new stocks or a mind set to refinish and live with deep dings.

If I were getting just one gun and did not want to have the possibility of having to get work done, I'd get the Anschutz.

Parts can still be had

It's sad when someone breaks a part on any gun, but there are still parts available. As a matter of fact, I'm rebuilding one now with new parts available thru Tim Allen. As for not being made for over 50 years, that's incorrect, All of mine we made in the 70's. Any qualified gunsmith can rebarrel or set back a Suhl barrel. Best advice I can give you, is to buy a Suhl and shoot it as is, All I can see you will need at first, is a BR stock if that's what you plan to use it for, Forget about excessive head space, as that's not a major problem with the Suhl's, as they will shoot exceptional well with head space os .044 to .050 with out any problem.

get a suhl. they are very accurate and shoot great. you can upgrade to a br stock from don stith for a reasonable amount of money, glassbed it, put a tuner on it and you'll have a rifle that will rival the best custom made rifles. they shoot very well and if it needs rebarreling you still have one heck of a rifle again. buy the suhl. i was looking at the same rifles you are. i took the suhl and have never looked back it simply shoots to well.
 
Suhl is the way to go.

Be prepared to be amazed.

Another vote for the Suhl.. Not only do they have one of the best triggers, the Suhl barrels are known for their accuracy..

let me put it to you this way. i baught a new stock today for my suhl. i simply mounted it up and rezeroed the scope today. i have a james messer biult hall actioned, lilja barreled rifle with a fudd tuner, and jewel trigger. well the suhl put the messer biult rifle to shame today!!!!! here is the suhl and the hall actioned rifle.
