I've heard they are building a refinery about ten or 15 miles north of Wheeler. Haven't seen it though.

Not sure about "completely new" refinery, but Cianbro, a large Maine based construction firm just completed 53 refinery expansion modules for the Motiva Port Arthur, Texas refinery that were constructed in Brewer, ME just across the river from my office. They were HUGE modular structures that were barged down the Penobscot River then to Texas. Mucho more refining capacity after the expansion so its not all in NEW refineries dude.

Hyperion is building a refinery about an hour South of me in Union County, South Dakota. It's in the jump-through-the-hoops phase right now, but things are moving forward. When completed, it will be the first new refinery in this country since 1976.

Refinery Expansion
There is a Sinclair Refinery in Sinclair, Wy, which is a few miles east of Rawlins. I noticed the last time I past it that it had exanded what appeared to be at least double the size than it was perhaps 5 years prior. It has been about 5 years since I was last there. My point is, I believe existing refineries have been expanding over the years in spite of not building new ones.
I wish Wilbur would put up a Political Discussion Forum here so that we could discuss , for instance, The Free Enterprise System and how it effects us.
