30br shoulder bump

Got a new 30br barrel spun up on a panda action .330 neck. My other 30br I have is a .332 neck. I turned some necks today and tried to chamber a case and couldn't get the bolt to close without coaxing it. I bumped the shoulder as far back as I could with the guts out of the die I have for my 30br with a .332 neck and it'll close, but boy it's tight. And takes a little force.

I'm trying to fire some cases to send them in to Harrell's but I'm a little worried about how tight it is in there. I have a whidden should bump gauge that's reading 1.350 on these cases. That same gauge reads 1.490 to give me 2 thou shoulder bump on my other 30BR.

Any suggestions?

So upon examination. I do feel a step on the cases.

When I turn the neck of the case it is not there though. Then when I bump the shoulder to try to get the case to chamber that step appears.

So I reset the depth on the mandrel on my PMA neck turner and took that step off and tried to chamber one and and it chambers, and then when I go to extract it it stays in the chamber.

Got everything all all squared away, I took the pieces that I had turned, and it's extracting. I think I bumped those pieces of far back while trying to get it to chamber that they are just too short now.

Final question however. After expanding, should I bump the shoulders or neck turn first? If I neck turn first, I imagine I just set the mandrel so it goes ever so slightly deeper into the shoulder?

Thanks again Al, huge help!

Alex Wheeler has a few videos on his site regarding cases. Everyone who hasn't seen them should watch them.
