Which scope/reticle are youse guys using on your HEAVY rigs?

Thanks

I currently have a 2DD. No real complaints, but I wish I had gone with the CH3 reticle for the smaller dot.--Mike

Hey Ed,
I don't know what youse guys use up north, but I have gone to Leupold 45's that have been frozen on all of my competition rigs. What is it they say?, familiarity breeds familiarity?
Best,

"Where are we going and why am I in this basket?"

I use Leupold 40's and Bausch & Lomb.
Ed, Where are you located?

Ed...looking at all of the IBS match reports (equipment list) can give you a good indication of the more popular scopes...but, I recommend you get a scope with 1/8" minute click values...the power and reticle is more of a personal choice and get the best glass you can afford...

just my 2 cents worth...:)

I love shooting score and i have found that i also like the very small dot. A 1/16" dot is what i like. I have a NF #3 very small dot and i also just got a couple scopes back from wally Siebert i had him take out the 1/8th" dot and install a 1/16" dot. I like them very much! I also like this for my group shooting rifles. Ed Pm coming your way sir, i need to ask you something. Lee

Thanks to all who responded.

I thought I would use NF to gain weight.

I think it will require a butt load of weight (no pun intended) to get up to HEAVY weight.

Dan ratted me out; I am a Texan.

There are far less expensive ways to add 12 ounces to anything.

Paul,

I am probably sinning.

I am contemplating turning a LV rig in to a HV rig.

It must grow 3 pounds not 12 ounces.

Mike,

that was my thinking; plus a little,(??) tail weight.

Thank you!!!

I use a 10x60 March variable with a 1/8 dot on my HV 30BR score Rig

I prefer a Dot for Score, Crosshairs for group........jackie

Just out of curiosity sir, were do you hold on the target while shooting groups with cross hairs? Lee

I've had a few

but currently I have a 40 Leup in Brackney mounts. I had a 45 Brackney with a Premier Dot in it but found it to be too much magnification for my taste. My 40 has crosshairs. I wanted this because I wanted to be able to bracket the aiming square on a group target in the crosshair intersection. I used that method in the one and only Group Match I have shot in and liked it. That seemed to me the most accurate place one could aim at without giving up anything to error. I don't find the crosshairs to be any more difficult to use for Score than a dot.

Skeet, I bracket the mothball at 12 and 3 ocklock with the crosshairs in Group. In score, I put the dot in the middle of the mothball, or hold accordingly........jackie

Wow. I though I was the only one who did that! Though if it is a really clear day, I'll bracket the thinner nine ring at 12 and 3 for group.

Except . . . For either group or score, it would take something drastic for me to change the scope setting after the warmup match. That means in a score match, I'm usually holding off a bit.
