    Maintenance question on repair centers

What adhesive works best for applying the repair centers on F-Class targets. Mostly I've heard "wallpaper paste", but what kind? I bought a gallon of premixed wallpaper paste and it was miserable stuff to apply (thicker than what I've seen before) and let go when it dried. Thanks. - nhk

Opinion of the Mossberg MVP Varmint

Mossberg MVP trigger The trigger is adjustable from 2-7#'s and I have mine set at 2-3/4# (for prairie dogs) and it is crisp. I like the accu-type triggers (Savage, Marlin and Mossberg). My triggers run from 6 oz. to 3-1/2#'s and I'm most comfortable with the 1-3/4 to 2-1/2# settings. You may...

Opinion of the Mossberg MVP Varmint

It took awhile to find a Mossberg MVP Varmint (.223) and it shoots 60 gr Sierra HP flat base varmint bullets really well in the 1:9 twist barrel. The magazine well is rather loose and magazines don't feed reliably, I think it could benefit from bottom metal to hold the magazines more securely...

    Marlin X7VH

I have the .308 and the the barrel measures 1-1/8" diameter in front of the nut and uses the large Savage wrench, but the barrel has a shoulder and the threaded diameter is 1-1/16" and 20 TPI, which fits the Savage SA small ring receiver. The head space on the barrel was 0.134", which was 0.007"...

    2012 New Years Resolution

Last year I made a resolution not to post on the forum in 2012 and I didn't. Did you miss me :D ? What I learned was I was wasting a lot of time on the forum and (meaning no disrespect to anyone) I don't need it. I finished a few projects and got out and shot more. Happy New Year 2013. Back to...

    Targets

Fly target My 'fly paper' target. I usually use it at 50 yds with a .22 LR, sometimes at 100 with my .223. I paste the graphic full size on a word doc page and print it. Try to hit 24/24. - nhk

    Targets

I'm surprised the flies weren't recognized as flies at 100 yds at that power (mirage?), because I can determine that it's a fly at 16-18X and have been known to sacrifice a group in quest of "live game". One of my friends has a target hanging in his garage with a 360 degree bug splat around a...

There was a swarm of locusts at our location on 9-32-11, almost obscured the target. - nhk

    Targets

Yep, it is.... with a hole punch or a nail ;-) When we did night fire in basic training the DI's gave us nails and said our targets better come back with twenty holes in them. It was fun shooting that 1895 Winchester. The metal butt plate is brutal. - nhk

    Targets

He and I go back over 40 years and he did that as a gag gift (framed) for Christmas and went out of his way to make every glaring error possible. He said he never realized how hard stippling was to do by hand. I thought his notes were pretty funny. My target wasn't one I'd put on the...

    Targets

My friend brought his original 1895 Winchester .30/06 that he'd inherited from his grandfather to the range and we shot it and he kept my target (4-1/2" group) and then returned it with his target (1" group) for comparison. Do you think he's pulling my leg? - nhk

    PT&G tool, Barrel centering bar??

I'm only guessing.... it's for chambering between centers. The knurled end is spring loaded to maintain tailstock pressure, so is the groove for the steady rest and you indicate off the bar to center the bore allowing for any tailstock misalignment by adjusting the steady rest? Beats me! Does...

    Throat length and seating depth

I had an interesting thing happen (At least to me) with a couple of rounds that only had 0.060" of the bearing surface seated in neck with 0.0150" jump in a long throat. See picture. Gas had pushed past the shoulder and dented the case body. I measured the fired case necks (50 rounds) and they...

    Was Mr Greenhill Wrong ?

Specific gravity I tried to find my notes on the velocity formula (I believe it's also called the Corbin formula)... I've had it embedded in a spreadsheet for some time and rarely use it, but its: .06 (a constant) * Velocity * (Caliber squared) / Length I'll have to venture a guess that the...
