    A question for score shooters

I might add, who ever does the scoring, make sure they know how to use the reticle correctly. Several years back, a Range in Texas had VFS Matches, and the person doing the scoring was, to put it mildly, inept. It caused quite a few problems as just about every relay had multiple shooters...

    A question for score shooters

I doubt it has ever been an issue. But I do see your point. I say just have the Match, and if anybody happens to shoot a potential record, just send the targets in and let the Records Committee sort it out. I suggest getting a scoring reticle. This is a game of thousandths of a inch. I have...

    NRA Files for Bankruptcy

I have been to two NBRSA Group Nationals at Raton. It’s fanatic facility. At the 1000 rad range, they have a steel full size Buffalo way up on the hill, I guess at about 1500 yards. I guess anybody can take a shot at it. Raton is one of the few ranges I have been to where they had to call a...

    NRA Files for Bankruptcy

Willy Brown is the expert on how our soon to be VP used the “tools” available to her in order to get ahead.

    NRA Files for Bankruptcy

I have been a lifetime member fo over twenty years, andI still get e-mails that say,.....”Join the NRA”. I have always had mixed feelings about the NRA. One part of me says they are the ONE entity that fights tooth and nail for our 2d Amendment Rights. The other part thinks they are a bunch of...

    45ACP Pistol Project

I got the barrel mounted, cut the ejector rod clearance, started contouring the barrel. I have to machine and mount an ejector rod lock, and machine and mount a front sight. http://benchrest.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=24298&stc=1&d=1610589092...

    45ACP Pistol Project

We used to use a Bomar Rib atop our pistols. The front sight will be the last thing I figure out. I have several ideas floating around in my head.

Quite a bit of the barrel will be gone when it’s finished.

    45ACP Pistol Project

I have a short barreled N Frame Smith & Wesson that I kinda cobbled together years ago. It started out as a Model 28 frame, I acquired a Model 25 cylinder and barrel and fit it all together. I cut and crowned the barrel at 3 inches, remounted a sight, and did an action job. I never really shot...

    Watched the Youtube

Great video. I would suspect that the reason they do in house heat treating is because there is very little available in the way of 17-4 at the strength level they require.

equipment list from the nationals ??

Just an observation, but it seems I see more tuners at Score Shooting Matches than Group.

    Interesting new action from Savage

That video is great, it showed the camming action that forces the balls into position to lock the bolt. I would suspect that this system requires a fully sized case that will offer little interference as the case enters the chamber, as there does not appear to be any mechanical assist that is...

    Primers vs Primers

All I can speak to is Federal 205 vs Federal 205 Match. I cannot tell the difference in any aspect of performance. That is in both my 30BR and 6PPC.

    LV 30br

In the grand scheme of things, a 30BR really does not kick that much in a HV Rifle. But after a Grand Agg, where you might shoot 80+ rounds, you are ready to put it up. I am heading to the range right now. It pretty cold for here, 48 degrees, but the Sun is shining and it’s just Beautiful outside.

I didn't shoot any competitions last year, how are you handling the shortages?

    I have plenty of 6PPC, 6BR, and 30BR components.

    c;hrome Moly Actions

No. That is why BAT rarely offers Chrome Moly Actions. I think they only have an occasional special run of CM.

    c;hrome Moly Actions

Lee, I forgot during my diatribe to say to the OP that if the choice was between chrome moly and 416, I would choose chrome moly.

    c;hrome Moly Actions

The vast majority of commercial actions, (factory), are machined from some type of chrome moly steel. That being, a variant of 4140. Those that offer stainless usually opt for 416. There is a difference in custom actions machined from different stainless steel. It has evolved to where a...

    Jim Carstensen

Hey, when I turned 70, (that was my max out year), I gladly went down and said.......”show me the money”. Since I have payed up my SS in about 4 months every year for a long time, I paid in a lot through the years. I get a nice fat check, which of course, they immediately take out around $700...

    Bi-directional threads

I have cut multi lead threads, and even a diamond reversing thread on a level wind lead screw, but never anything quite like this. It looks like he is having a lot of fun.
