    222 remington

I can easily see the bullet holes form with my scope, even in the black. When I first looked at the 100 yard target, I asked Russ Haydon what the box is for. Russ said that is a helpful tool for achieving accuracy. He suggested lining up my crosshairs on any corner of the box and don't worry...

    .222 Remington build advice

This works pretty well: This is a BAT SB action, in 222 Rem. with a Krieger barrel, Jewell trigger and Kelbly HCFB stock. Though I am not an experienced BR shooter, I am able to shoot this rifle at 1/4 MOA regularly, achieving 100 yard groups like this. (Click the thumbnails for a larger...

    222 remington

I am shooting a BAT action bench rifle in 222 Remington and a Ruger No. 1 in 222 Remington. I am using two different powders. For loading on the bench, I use Winchester 748. That is because it is a ball powder that flows smoothly in my Redding #3BR powder measure. For loading general...

    Scope and Bore not parallel

That is probably it. Many people do not realize that you first need to get the crosshairs in focus before adjusting anything else. Try putting your scope at maximum magnification and focused at infinity, looking at some kind of blank background. Then screw the rear lens in and out to find...

    Scope and Bore not parallel

You could get a new barrel but windage adjustable rings would be a lot less expensive. While confessing that I am not an experienced competition shooter, I have used such rings on several rifles and have come to appreciate how they center the scope, giving me full range left and right for...

    Scope and Bore not parallel

Windage Adjustable Rings If you want, I have a set of 1" windage adjustable rings for Weaver style mounts, that I am no longer using I would send you to try. The windage adjustable rings have screws on both sides, where they connect to the base, allowing them to be adjusted independently from...

    Seb Neo Rest

Hard Bag I agree the three piece bag system is pretty hard. The one of a kind rest right next to mine in my attached picture also has a three piece bag. It is a lot softer, even with 'heavy sand'. Could it be a simple matter of the SEB bags being overfilled? What filing materials did you...

Your choice. I ignore no one. I carefully read all posts on issues interesting to me. I learn from everyone.

First a disclaimer: I am not an experienced competition shooter. I am a novice with a passion for fine tools. I come from a family of machinists and mechanics, so I know fine tools when I see them. Over the past eight years, I have been buying and trying a variety of windage adjustable...

    Weaver XR Series

I did not join this or any other forum to argue with anyone. Nor did I join to spend my days parroting misinformation. When my source of information is an article from a trusted shooting magazine, a friendly gunsmith or a book by a well known writer such as Jack O'Conner, I copy and post what...

    Weaver XR Series

One last comment and then I am done with this thread. I do not make up anything. Either I report personal experiences or I quote resources that seem reliable and seek comments from the experienced. On more than one occasion I have asked very specific questions on this and other sites...

    Weaver XR Series

Sorry to Have Offended You I think you have missed my point. First of all, I am not an expert on anything, except building motorcycle controls for disabled riders. Second, I listen to experts all the time. I read the information on sites like this to gather information from different...

    Weaver XR Series

The information in my reply is not something I wrote, it comes from a truly useful site. I just copied and pasted the information from the long detailed article on target scopes (see the links below) I found on my favorite shooting site that is actually reliable. Obviously, you are not...

    Weaver XR Series

One reason why I did not but a Leupold 45X is that I have read reports of issues with side focus Leupolds not holding stable parallax settings (lash). There has also been a problem with off axis crosshairs. Here is what was reported on Accurate Shooter: Leupold Competition Series 35x, 40x...

    Weaver XR Series

That is odd. I have owned four T-36s. All had 1/8 min. clicks and only one ever needed service. I contacted Weaver. The guy who answered the phone had me send it in at no cost to me. He even sent me a shipping label. That was about five years ago. All of my POI issues are due to failures...

    Weaver XR Series

I have owned quite a few of the older Weaver T-Series scopes (all bought used). I have never experienced any issues with them. I still have a T-6 and a T-36. If I did not need side focus, those two would cover all of my target shooting needs. By the way, I have now fired 100 rounds through...

Convincing gun club to allow wind flags to be placed like BR matches do.

That's right. So back to that question. 1. Show the club officers that wind flags are normal (universal) at all organized BR competitions and needed for serious practice. 2. Agree to set them up before starting a match or a practice. 3. Agree to take them down before leaving the range...

Convincing gun club to allow wind flags to be placed like BR matches do.

That theory only goes so far. I have frequently seen people, with more money than sense, buy expensive firearms, boats, motorcycles, etc. and then with no training, no experience or understanding of rules of safety head out to the woods, the firing line, the lake (with a boat load of alcohol)...

Convincing gun club to allow wind flags to be placed like BR matches do.

That would be the last day of RSO duty for that guy, at any club where I was a member. In fact, that would be the end of his membership. No question, no appeal. Who are these people anyhow? What ever happened to common sense?
