Where do you all buy your steel

Thanks again fellas. I found what I needed up the road at our local Hot Rod Shop. I was making a new action truing jig, and I needed a 2.5" x4" piece of stainless. Butch, I have very little scrap or material in the shop here, and I'm always needing something. I appreciate your offer. I will...

    6MM Grendel 80gr flat base

I have heard rumors that there are some fellas shooting the 6mm Grendel with custom 80Gr flat base bullets in short range benchrest. I also heard they are shooting this combo with good success. I find this very interesting. Anyone around here know anything about this combo being shot? I would...

    .22 ppc .100 short

I came up with my own little 22ppc short a couple years back. I changed the shoulder angle from 30 to 35 shortened the case body .120 and kept the neck about .050 longer than a standard 22 ppc short. I really don't think its anything special but it does shoot, and its fast. 3650 or better...

Where do you all buy your steel

I am needing some stainless and aluminum tubing for some tools I want to make. McMaster Carr seems really high on their material. Is there an outlet or wholesaler anywhere you all buy your material from? thanks Lee

General Impressions of Grizzly G4003G Lathe

I have the big Grizzly G509G "gunsmithing" lathe. I like the machine as a hole, but the threads it cuts are less than perfect. I have a buddy with the same machine and he reports the same on the threads. A little chatter doesn't hurt anything, but people don't like seeing it and for 8,000$ there...

Another Bullet Making Thread (lots of photos & video)

Most think im crazy but one thing I have found time and time again on my home range. If the wind is blowing to beat hell ill jam the bullet a bunch. when the wind is lite, ill be closer to touch. works!! Some might argue you can do the same with powder. Maybe?? Lee

    Chambering and Threading Lathe

I started out on a belt drive jet. I chambered some really good shooting barrels with it. I didn't like the fact I couldn't place my tools on top of the gear box as I was always lifting the lid to change speeds. The lathe did but nice threads. Lee

    Chambering and Threading Lathe

What about the single phase turn pro. I still see a few of those in stock. Not sure how the single phase motor would be but it does simplify things.

    Chambering and Threading Lathe

Another little lathe that caught my interest is the turn pro sold by enco. Enco is all the time offering 20 to 30 percent off coupons. With the coupon that makes these lathes pretty affordable. These lathes are supposed to be Taiwanese made to. Lee

    Chambering and Threading Lathe

Yes the new southbend is an Emco style lathe. I think someone told me Dwight Scott uses an Emco?? The new Heavy 10 from Grizzly is a super high quality machine, it truly is. The Build in VFD is a super cool feature. My little machine runs and cuts like a dream. Big difference between this...

    Chambering and Threading Lathe

The new grizzly sold, South bend heavy 10 is a whale of a machine. These little lathes are made in Taiwan and are of high quality. My little heavy 10 cuts better threads than my 3500 pound grizzly gun smithing lathe. Night and day difference!! They really are a nice machine!! Lee

Another Bullet Making Thread (lots of photos & video)

Lee Thank you for your time here. I have never seen a single bullet being made and I really enjoyed this. I hope your bullets shoot well. Im not the betting type, but if I were, my money would be on that they will shoot great!!! I cant wait to see your results. Well done, and congratulations...

    Reamer

I feel the same way as Mike. I also cant help but think your final product will be a better product having everything cut in one straight set up. I have and do throat barrels for folks, and the results thus far have been fine. However for myself, I will always have the free bore I need ground...

    Action truing options

Well said Mike. I fully agree!! I will also share that all of these newer RR Prefix Remington actions have been pretty darn straight. I haven't seen one that was out more than .0025 on any of the critical areas. I still like to clean them up, but I cant help but wonder how much Im really...

    berger 108

Has Berger stopped making the 6mm 108gr bullets? I built a new rifle and early testing shows the 108 to be superb. Problem is I only have about 30 of them left. I cant find any in stock anywhere either. What's the scoop, and is there any known custom bullet makers making a similar bullet? thanks Lee
