    22 cal bench rest question

You won't find many shooting the 22BR in 600-1K BR. If you plan to give it a try, run the 90 VLDs out of a 7 or 8 twist.

    refitting factory remington barrels

Just order a Green Mountain gunsmith blank for $50 and do the entire thing to your liking. Setting back a factory Remington barrel is just plain silly.

    40 x ppc

I just did a 40x myself from a 40x action I got off gun broker. I wanted a factory look with a vintage walnut stock. Mine is a 22 BR. Here is my price list: Action:$480 Stock: $150 Kelbly Trigger: $120 Harrells Base/Rings: $90 X-Caliber 1.25" Stainless Barrel Blank: $135 BAT trigger...

    Unusual supplier behavior

You have to renew the subscription, even the free version. Each time a package is mailed via UPS to my address, I get a tracking number through UPS automatically. It works. Look into it again. Not sure if it will work in your case since the package was already shipped, but worth a try...

    Oatey cutting oil

I believe the chlorination acts as an additional lubricant when heat and cutting pressure is present.

    bolt stop question

I agree...that dies not sound like a reliable route. Sounds more like a hack than anything, lol. Have a side bolt release installed. Not the ugly plunger style, the rocker type that gets installed in a milled slot and pinned.

    Internal threading tool/ remington 700

I had my eye on the same internal threading bar. As for inserts, scour eBay....you can get good inserts way cheaper than buying from grizzly. PS...if you have anymore HSS stuff, I'll gladly take it off your hands!

Make a 22 BR form die from chamber reamer?

I used the die today and it sure did work slick. Tiny chamfer on the outside of the neck, little imperial and out comes a necked down BR case. After that, I ran the case through a bushing die. Both operations are effortless. Just for kicks...I ran a few over the concentricity gauge and the...

Make a 22 BR form die from chamber reamer?

Wayne...the edge inside the die will not come close to letting a 6br case pass...would definitely shave like crazy. I could very well open it up with a micro boring bar, but that's too easy. I went ahead and made a form die. Will give it a try this week to see if it works as expected. If...

Make a 22 BR form die from chamber reamer?

I'm about ready to start forming 22BR brass for my 40x project. I only have a Redding type S 22BR FL Sizer.(seater is inline made with reamer) I doubt this die will work without shaving the crap out of the neck. A 6BR case will not pass freely though the neck opening of the die. I could...

ptg or Manson rem truing tooling

+1 Make yourself a truing jig so you can single point the threads, face the lug surface and face of the action all on the lathe once dialed.

So basically the first smith cut the chamber correctly?

Extraction problems 6/284... Finally found out what was the problem @#%&*&%#@ !!!!

I've seen "qualified gunsmiths" screw stuff up and do half a$$ work... I'm sure there is way more to the OP than what is stated. There are always two sides to a story...

    IBS Winter Meeting this weekend

Would you happen to have a picture of the bag and your rifle in it? Can't say that I have seen the revised set up. The ones I did see, definitely traps.

    IBS Winter Meeting this weekend

With the seb 3pc system, it does not take much pressure to trap the stock. The problem is, the side bags are way too high and they form around the stock higher than 1/2". The company should offer a bag in which the sides are 1/2", no more, no less...problem solved.

    Vintage Remington 20X Target Scope

Butch...that is a fantastic collection you have there! I don't see any recoil springs on them. Don't they use them? Just manually rest the scope? I had a Lyman Super Targetspot on a 40x and it did not have a spring. I had to reset the scope for each shot. I regret getting rid of it, along...

    Aluminum Soft Jaws ?

I've also heard that indexing a barrel at 12 o'clock or 6 o'clock, accuracy is at the best. The came from a guy that indexes and spin tests barreled action on paper.
