That is how I do it most of the time.

    Devcon Question

I buy them at Smart & Final in bags of 100. I think they run around $2-$3 a bag.

    Devcon Question

That works I guess, I use a 1 oz plastic cup and put it on the digital scale and zero it out. I then put the amount of black stuff that looks like it will do the job. I then scoop some white stuff and add until the math is right. This has worked well for me.

Bedding with 2 part epoxy glue/coloring bedding

I bought a couple of tubes of colorant and the local auto paint superstore (Space Age). It works great. I didn't get yellow though. You would have to use a clear or very white epoxy to color it yellow.

Can a Remington 7mmMag bolt face be bushed to 30-06?

You could screw any 308 head size barrel on it and send it to Remington for a new bolt. They rebarrel to 30-06 if you want. Might be your cheapest route. 700 take off barrels are a dime-a-dozen.

    Test micrometers

Are you wanting a test indicator or a micrometer? I like the bestest indicator that I have. I bought a Phase II or whatever they are called and it is clearly not a reliable as the bestest. If you want a good micrometer that reads to .00005" then get the Mitutoyo. Mine is 8 years old and I just...

Can the matte SPS 700 stainless action easily be polished?

Sure it could be done. You will have to block sand it or use a soft stone of some type to get it close and then judicious use of a buffing wheel. High quality polishing is a lot of work. you might be able to fab a mandrel with bearing that you could use to spin it against a belt grinder to save...

    Four jaw chuck runout

My 3 jaw and 4 jaw are both German chucks and pretty tight but for some reason, my 3 jaw had a jaw that just was not the same are the rest. I made 3 jigs from ground plate that I was able to hold flat against the face of the chuck and preload the jaws. I used a dial indicator and played with it...

    setting up to taper bore

The reamer will most certainly follow that hole you have bored, the important thing is that IF you pre-bore, it must be done so that there is no runnout in the hole. I assume you are using a boring bar to make this hole as a drill will always leave a hole with too much runnout for a chamber. I...

Phase converter for a nardini 14x40

I have a rotary phase converter on my Nardini 1440. My VFD experience is a grand total of one. I hooked it up according to the instructions and smoke poured out of it. I wouldn't do another one unless I got someone else to hook it up! It was an expensive lesson. The RPC works just fine but it is...

    Holly

I have lumbered a number of trees to get wood for knife making projects and such. I have used such woods as Ironwood, Cyprus, olive, pecan, black walnut, manzanita and some crazy stuff like Mountain mahogany and cliffrose. Some stuff turns out better than others. I live in a climate that is...

6.5x47L 8.5 twist chamber recomendations needed

I'm not sure how much slower a 6.5-47 is than a 260 Rem but in the 260, an 8.5 twist has stabilized everything I have thrown at it. I mostly use 130 Normas for long range stuff and it has no problems with them or the 130/140 Accubonds. I have a 9 twist that works with the 130 Accubonds fine.

    PT&G tool, Barrel centering bar??

This is exactly my logic. Glad someone else agrees with it. Incidently, if you are using a Gordy rod, this is what you are bearing on, not the grooves. I won't get into the tolerance stacking argument.

340 Wby mag with Lapua 300 gr. Scenar question

I have a Redding bushing die for my 340 Wby. You can always buy a 300 WBY bushing die and just order the larger bushing. Same exact case and die. Mine, however, is labeled 340 Wby.

    PT&G tool, Barrel centering bar??

I am still not following you. First, you are assuming that we are all using button barreled rifles. Most of mine are cut rifled barrels. In either case, the barrel is drilled, reamed and lapped before anything else is done to it. The bore at this point is as perfect as anything in the rifle is...

    PT&G tool, Barrel centering bar??

Woodhunter, why do you think dialing into the "grooves" with a long stem indicator is "much more accurate" than dialing into the lands with a long stem indicator? Should there be any difference? Which is more important?

    Range rods or grizzly rod??

I use a "grizzly rod" as purchased from PTG. I wish I had a long stem indicator but I think the rod method has its merits. Gordy's name is in a lot of winning setup lists. Can't fault his method for results.

    Black coating/finish

Cerakote is a LOT tougher than Black T. I have had both done, there is no comparison. The Black T looks nice but it is not as durable. If you are trying to do it on the cheap, the Brownells stuff is decent but not much tougher than regular spray paint. I have a buddy that uses a special stove...

just some questions on shipping of primers.

Generally, a private party cannot ship primers. You can't just take them to the UPS terminal and ship them. The shipper has to be licensed and bonded to "know" how to package them etc. It is pretty tough to sell primers other than face-to-face. It may be possible to find someone who will ship...
