    Greatest miliary firearms designer . . . ?

Pete.. its pretty well documented that Hugo Schmeisser did not design the MP 38/40. He did design the MP18. ERMA was responsible for the 38/40. Tks

    UPS Store not gun friendly...

Use the USPS IMHO for long guns...you can't ship pistols USPS. They are fast, reasonable and no hassle.

    Practicality of “Vintage” rifle/scope combo?

Check out these... looks as if the rear mount captures the scope like a conventional ring then adjusts for wind and elev. Looks as if the front one is spring loaded but not sure. I believe they are 3/4" and may take a Unertl 3/4" or Lyman. Not sure if dovetail is Unertl or Anschutz...

    Practicality of “Vintage” rifle/scope combo?

Slowshot... interesting comment about a 60 year old design holding up so well. Actually, the understanding of refractive optics has been well understood for a LONG time. The longer the scope focal length (meaning the less steep the lens curves) the less chromatic abberation and other...

    FEDEX scam

It seems to happen in more rural delivery areas were fedex just doesn't have a large number to deliver on any given day or during certain periods. They slough it off to the PO which, say what you may, delivers regularly. I use nothing but USPS if I am shipping a long gun for repair. NO HASSLES

    Practicality of “Vintage” rifle/scope combo?

Greg... funny you should mention 200 yard rimfire matches. We have one next weekend 3/14. It should be a lot of fun and has the chance of being quite humbling!! --Greg

    Practicality of “Vintage” rifle/scope combo?

Pete... would probably agree about not sighting in for over 50 yds, but the things shoot pretty respectible groups at 100 yds. Regarding the tube spring, if one is there, isn't to take the shock out of firing on a heavily recoiling rifle, its there to return the scope to battery. Battery is...

    Lost a Friend

Really sorry... to hear he passed away. I first met Vince at the Nationals in Augusta ME. He was recovering from treatment then(early 00's), but he never gave up the game he loved...6 power benchrest score shooting. He was one fine gunsmith too. I will miss seeing and talking with him. ==Greg
