Just Talked To Scott Hunter Concerning Scoring System

Jackie, Interesting twist. In IBS score, which I shoot, I have often wondered why the IBS doesn't modify creedmore tie breaker a la the rules for NSSA skeet shoots which I used to shoot a lot of. Longest run from the front OR back wins. In other words, count the number of X's from the front(1st...

    Sea Foam for barrel cleaning

I'm with Pete on the crown damage done by sloppy cleaning methods. I've watched some shooters over the years drive the rod and patch at warp speed down the barrel, pushing 8-10" of rod out the muzzle, and while it is still whipping from side to side, haul it back in. Man, one ding in the crown...

    Group vs. Score

I would be interested in hearing from long time group shooters who have been shooting some NBRSA score of late. I have shot only socre for last 11 years, no group in Maine. The issue some of us wrestle with is the lack of explination of why we can shoot X after X in the sighter then see some X's...

    Primer seater

John, Lee auto primer...great design, putrid execution in materials and tolerances imho. Also, had a friend use his with Federal primers(at the time they said not to) and it blew up in his hand with a near full tray of primers in the tool. Nasty. I use a K&M cause they are 1/3rd a Sinclair...

    Primer seater

I have two K&M tools. Had a Sinclair. Well made but didn't like the locking, unlocking of the shell in the holder design. Love my K&M's at about 1/3rd the price.

    Krieger 30 cal 17 & 18 twist

The twist number stamped on the breech end can be difficult to see if the lighting is not good and depending on your age! :)

    norma 6mm br brass fo 30br ??

the comments about Norma brass being smaller in the web than Laupa are about the old Norma brass...made years ago and perhaps up until recently for all I know just prior to the intro of the new stuff. It was definitely smaller in the web area and Laupa would not fit a chamber made with a reamer...

Saturday Results Tomball Gun Club VFS/HTR

BTW, since score is on a test basis, I presume there are no records being established at this time? The 500-32X is a pretty good score agg X count!

    N-130 Versus H4198 for the 30BR

Randy, I have to agree with you...that H4198 is just so consistent from barrel to barrel. It does seem to be the right stuff, tho other powders work ok. I have some RL7 I bought from Pete that I want to try. What is your experience with this ball powder in hot weather? I sure does meter well...

The 30BR For Group Frenzy Has Started

Well, not claiming to be an early pioneer, but began shooting it 10-11 years ago in IBS score here in Maine. It was phenomenally accurate then and still is IF one finds the right powder, bullet, seating depth combo. I have done ok with it and am happy to see many of the score shooting naysayers...

    Primer seater

Great design, terrible execution. THey are junk as made. And follow their instructions...do NOT use Federal primers.

    Primer seater

Had a Sinclair. Nice, very well made unit. I hated having to turn the top to lock the shell in and then having to unlock it. Sold it. Have 2 KM's just put the shell in the holder and press the lever. The sliding collar rises to lock the shell in place while the primer seats. Top of the line unit.

    Cleaning a Match Rifle

One of the things Jackie Schmidt said he didn't do was clean for the entire 100 yard agg. Without going back and looking my memory tells me he shot an .093X for the last group. So, what does this tell us, if anything, about his rifle barrel, .30 caliber barrels in general used in BR? I have shot...

Thank you Jackie Schmidt, a mystery solved

Grasshopper, with all due respect, awe, and amazement at jackie's feat this past weekend there have been some impressive aggs and placements by 30BR shooters, like Hal Drake and Dean Breaden at several large right coast IBS benchrest shoots in the past. The ground is not entirely unplowed, but...

    I ain't a rimfire shooter, but

Thanks for the report on your two new rifles, especially the 37. I shoot centerfire score mostly but do have a 37. I've shot it in 4 club shoots so far this year, one at 200 yd, and enjoy it very much. There is just something about owning and shooting these 60-70 year old superb works of...
