Pete that was a Gaulin action. One of us should have bought that thing. What a work of art it was.

first BR match at St. Johnsbury...any advice

Seb... at least in the IBS, when the cease fire command is given, the rule is to NOT TOUCH YOUR RIFLE PERIOD...until you are given specific instructions by the range officer, unless of course it is a normal cease fire after time runs out.

Hal... on second thought, you're right. Besides, he gets to work with kids that go home to someone else and gets paid for it. What a racket!!

    Pumpkin neck turner

tenring... I bought 2 turners and assorted mandrels from him several years ago and emailed him a year ago or so wanting to buy mandrels for .264. I didn't hear back either. Guess he must only go through vendors now. I don't see his webpage in the advertising section either. Maybe someone knows...

    Weaver T-36 repair

I've had 4 Weavers over the last 10 years. Each was a dependable scope when I first got them, but none of them survived delivering BR accuracy for more than 2 or 3 years. Just my experience. The did serve me well, for a while. A scope is like a share of stock....never get married to it and...

    IBS bolts-out rule

Hal... imo, a bolts out rule is just that...a bolts out rule. If I'm 50 feet away and see you inserting a bolt how do I know you've stripped it? You know human activity creep....give an inch and take a foot. I think its a good rule, and one we all can live with. I've had to ask to do the...

    IBS bolts-out rule

Edwin jury's are 12 in number. In an "accidental" shooting at the range situation, do you suppose the sleeze bag plaintiff attorney might explore the extent of safeguards that the sanctioning body has mandated? Hindsight is always 20/20, so its up to the sanctioning body to anticipate the...

    IBS bolts-out rule

Well Jerry, I've been called a lot of things over the years, yours is pretty mild, so I won't comment further other than I did have a :) at the end of my post. Primarily to highlight the difference between the IBS and NBRSA on the bolt rule. It is a tougher rule in the IBS, but the incident...

    IBS bolts-out rule

Jerry... rule was not rescinded. It stands. The rule does allow a competitior to contact a ref and if there is a safe area to insert the bolt with ref oversight that is allowed. It was in effect all last year and part of season prior, and it is working well. If there are any gripes they can...

Dick, Just a spoof. Couldn't resist perching a gun on the knife blade snow bank on the back of the house. Really though, the gun did slide back quite nicely. No room for a rear rest though. I grabed the first thing I could. A very low 4 digit serial number Remington 40X heavy barrel and a 20x...

Good Plan watch out for the Key deer, especially once you are over the 8 mile bridge and in the Big Pine area. They'll throw away the key if you hit one.

informal benchrest shooting in Maine on March 21, 2009. Don't need no stinkin' sillycone spray today! You wouldn't believe how smoothly she recoiled and pushing it forward was slick! It was a balmy 35 F when the match started. --Greg
