    6-6.5x47 Lapua load date needed

Similar to Milanuk, mine prefers 39.5 of H4350 ,CCI 450 primers, 100gn pills about .010" in and around the 3080fps. With a 26" barrel I would guess the barrel accuracy node would be around 3060-3080 fps.

    Optics Recomendations?

Another problem with Bushnell 4200 scopes is the limited adjustment. You cant zero at 100yds and crank up to 1000yds like you can with other scopes.

Fibre glassing over a wooden stock.

Mike A, looks like you know a thing or 2 about it. I might drop you a line about it sometime.

Fibre glassing over a wooden stock.

I will probably end up screwing and glueing some metal strips along it and fibreglass over the top. I will chase up the proper wood resin as well. I like the idea of the carbon fibre base, but I,m trying to get it together in a hurry and on a budget. Thanks for the tips and info.

Fibre glassing over a wooden stock.

I have a new laminated F class/BR stock which is a bit flimsy for the long range barrels I will be hanging off it. Weight of the stock Isnt a problem as it is already fairly light, so I was thinking of fibre glassing over some of the stock to stiffen it up a bit. Has anyone done this? Does the...

Machining out pitted Rem 700 bolt face.

I have already got the bolt back and the gunsmith ,Pete van Meurs from Pro-cal did a good job of turning dog poop into gold. He fitted a top hat shaped insert which took out all of the pitting and also made the oversized firing pin hole smaller. He did take .005" off the face of the bolt, but in...

    6x47 Barrel length?

I think most would say 28-31" is where everyone seems to be. Any less and you lose velocity, any more and you reach the point of diminishing returns, more barrel whip, more bullet in barrel time, bullet jackets heating up more, nose heavy gun.. Personaly I like 30-31" then after a the throat...

Machining out pitted Rem 700 bolt face.

No, I,m the new owner. I would say it was caused by primers letting go. I have heard that there was a bad batch a few years ago in this area and the primers were failing regularly. If it was me, I would have done something about it after only a few blown primers, But????

Machining out pitted Rem 700 bolt face.

Brian, the pitting is so deep that it chews out the base of the case when I uncock it. I have sent the bolt away to have a tophat shaped insert put in and drilled out.

    6-6.5x47 Lapua flash hole size

I havent enlarged primer pockets in a 6x47 yet, but I did play with a bunch of BR cases a while ago. I had a realy good accurate load out to 1000yds with std flash holes, then though I might get one of those flash hole uniformers and improve it further. The accuraccy went down as I increased...

    velocity spread!

If your barrel is around 30" long, then there is a good accuraccy node around the 2920-2950 fps. The big velocity spreads might be OK at 100 yds, but I would say that at 1000yds verticle would suffer. I know that 100yds BR shooters dont weight their charges as it doesnt matter at short range...

Machining out pitted Rem 700 bolt face.

I looked at the "Bad Primers-Etched Boltface" post and mine is much worse than that. I think I will have to go for bushing the bolt, the pitting is too deep for a quick skim. As mentioned, it will shrink the pin hole as well. Problem is, I take it the ejector hole will have to be drilled as well...

Best replacement bolt for Rem 700?

Following on from a previous post about a badly pitted bolt face. I see that there are a few different aftermarket bolts available for Rem 700s now. The Tubb/superior shooting systems bolt looks like it has good features, but is pretty expensive, while the PTG (Pacific Tool and Gauge) bolt looks...

Machining out pitted Rem 700 bolt face.

I have a Rem 700 bolt face for 223 which has some very bad pitting in the face which will need to be machined out. Is there any specification as to how much you can mill out of it to clean the face up totaly? What are the limits?

Any tips on glueing Panda into stock.

Thanks for the tips. I didnt think about getting the aluminium oxide off first. At the moment ,only the front and rear screws are being used, but others have recommended fitting the middle screw as well, so I will have to get someone else to pillar this one for me. Thanks

Any tips on glueing Panda into stock.

I have decided to glue my Panda action into my Tracker stock. The action is currently screwed into place over regaular bedding material. Does anyone have any tips they would like to share. What is the best sort of glue? I cant get JB Weld in my area, will Araldite 2 part epoxy be OK? I hope I...

Should I use middle action screw with Stolle Panda, heavy barrels

I should have got the long Panda, but I didnt know about them at the time. Ive had this action for a lot of years so I dont even think they had a long range version back then and a new one is out of my budget at the moment. The reason I am thinking it is the bedding is that the action screws...

Should I use middle action screw with Stolle Panda, heavy barrels

Roger, I like the idea of bedding blocks and TonyZ will be building one up for me soon using a Rem 700 action. In the meantime, I will be using this action with my shorter (but still heavy) 22BR, 6PPC 284 and 30BR barrels, so I need to be able to change barrels.

    Action Build Log.

I like it. As making a cup of coffee is right at the limits of my handiwork, I dont think I will be trying to copy you. Will you be making any more of these actions?

Should I use middle action screw with Stolle Panda, heavy barrels

I have a Stolle Panda (sporterweight with no integral recoil lug)which has started shooting erraticly lately, which I have put down to a bedding problem. I have been using straight no taper 28-30" 7mm barrels on it which I am asuming would have screwed the bedding up a bit. So far only the front...
