    1,000 Yard Panda

My Panda was glued into a McMillan BR stock. It was VERY secure. When I tried to remove the action from the stock for storage during removal I tried a few methods such as freezing both in freezers to crack it loose. I ended up breaking the stock trying to get it unglued. The next day I heard...

How important is action in barrel blocked rifle?

I will be getting the machining done by a local machinist so I will have some input in the design. The stock wont be very wide, so I cant make the block too wide. I will be looking at pictures of barrel blocked rifles to get ideas on shape, size, mounting/clamping methods etc So I take it that I...

Who can export bullets from USA

No I,m not that enthusiastic about paying US$75 for an export permit for a pack of 100 bullets. I have ordered Wildcat bulets from Canada and JLK and LRB bullets from USA these didnt involve that fee. That was a year ago, so maybe things have changed.

How important is action in barrel blocked rifle?

I am starting to think about my next long range rifle project which will be for F class standard in 308 cal. I want to try a barrel bedding blocked rifle.I didnt want to spend huge amounts where possible so I am thinking of using a cheaper target action like an Omark or similar. With a barrel...

neck tension on bigger cases/slower powder

This discussion is something I have been thinking as well. I have noticed that with some of the slower powders, once I get to a certain powder weight, I can keep adding more, but velocity doesnt increase. I am thinking that this is because the bullets starts moving too early and some of the...

    1,000 Yard Panda

I have changed my Panda BR gun into an F class and 1000-1200yd gun. Now it mainly shoots 284s. I recently bought a kelbly base to slide over the dove tails. The base has 20 moa elevation and with my 12-42 NF scope I screw it all the way down to the bottom (well 4 minutes from bottom) for 100 yds...

    NEW Berger 7mm 180 gr BT-THICK

Jeeze, I would love some , but I got in too late for the test. I am getting my 180s to work now that I have reduced the charge a bit, but I am definitley keen for the new 180s to be released. Maybe they will handle the higher pressures well. I have 3 barrels to try them in. Is this new bullets...

Who can export bullets from USA

I am interested in trying some Cauterucio bullets but he cant export them to Australia as he doesnt have an export licence. Is there anyone here who has this licence and exports bullets and bits overseas? I was just after a sample of 100 bullets first before putting in bigger orders.

Is the newer Lapua brass better than the older lots, which were not very popular among some shooters?

G1 or G7 when using balistics programs , long range bullets

Thanks for the info Louis. I wasnt thinking that the BC figures from sierra would be in G1, while the balistic program will be in G7, so as you say, G1 would be the one to use. Mikecr, I have not shot at 1200 yds yet, only at 1000yds with another rifle. With this particular barrel I have a 800...

G1 or G7 when using balistics programs , long range bullets

I,m just checking elevation needed for an up coming 1200 yd shoot and was wondering whether the default G1 setting is best to use. I had read somewhere about using G7 with modern long range bullets. 175gn 7mm sierra in my case.

Any news on any new Berger 7mm high BC bullets?

We have seen the new 30 cal Bergers which look very likely to be produced, but does any one know if there are any new 7mm long range bullets on the horizon? Maybe something heavier than 180 gn or something with the more depth tolerant ogives, maybe something I,m looking for which is a high BC...

190 SMK powders in 308 Win

Ive just returned from a crono session with the 308 ,175 bullets. I tried H4350 N540 and N550. N550 has a slight edge over H4350 in velocity and a bigger edge in velocity spread. I will be using N550 from now on. They both beat N540, so it is. 1st N550 2nd H4350 3rd N540

How do you stop your scope from fogging up?

Tony, the bolt worked out well. Thanks for that. I moved down here as I wanted to get away from the rain and I heard there was a drought down here. It has done nothing but rain since I moved here.

How do you stop your scope from fogging up?

Drover, the poor warranty service I have had from Bushnell has been here in Australia, where Tasco does their warranty work. I have spoken to a few people here who have said forget about sending any sort of (Tasco or Bushnell) warranty work to Tasco in Australia. It might be different in USA...

How do you stop your scope from fogging up?

Drover, due to the very poor warranty service I have had in Australia with my previous 4200 series scopes, I will not buy another Bushnell or Tasco scope. I have decided that I will try using spit on the lenses as I dont want to risk the lenses of my good scopes with other unknown chemicals.
