    Deep bore with mini boring bar

    solid carbide I use solid carbide with a 1/4" shank. Indicate barrel true in the lathe, thread barrel, screw on brake. Then pre bore with drill and then take the last .030 with boring bar with .005 cuts. It won't flex. I go .020 over bullet dia.

    cooper or brass Cooper won't scratch stainless, brass and aluminum will.

    I've switched to vipers venom from the dark cutting oils and like it better.

    I found a TX model new hermes with a lot of fonts. Its a floor model in nice shape. I'm cleaning it up and almost ready to try it. It's a drag type, no motor. Never used one before and has no manual with it.

    Cooper is the only material that won't scratch stainless . Brass and aluminum will.

    no problem I have a maple, cherry with carbon fiber matte in between the layers of wood. I clear coated it 3 years ago with no problems. The carbon is a little hard on cutting bits and when you sand it the black dust gets into the pores of the wood that's hard to get out, but it make for a...

    Rosin I bought a bag of powder rosin for the hard to get off barrels but never had to use it yet. The aluminum bushings and tape on the barrel hasn't slipped yet.

    Aluminum is softer and won't mark the barrel as much as steel, but you still have to be careful. I put masking tape on the barrel and make sure there's no debrie on the bushings.
