    IBS score question 49-5x target

Not an opinion Mike Not an opinion--statement from a writer of the rules...................wording might not make sense in math and algebra but it sure made sense to those that wrote them when they were considering "scoring". Guess that is not valued and so that is the way it is. It has...

    IBS score question 49-5x target

Lynn-this not algebra Lynn Not opinion, it is not algebra--it is scoring. there is no 9X. Simple-straightforward-- done

    IBS score question 49-5x target

We differ on what is black and white Mike where we differ is what is black and white--you believe that 10x -1 is 9x--I believe 10x-1 is 9----because of the rest of the data and information on scores---so it is not as plain and simple as you see it. I trust that maybe some one will have enough...

    The "click" ????

experineces experiences with a ppc barrel and a 300 wsm barrel continue to make me believe in the polished chamber resulting in more bolt thrust scenario--I do not use excess headspace when I do this--I use cases that are at most bumped .001. a highly polished chamber has shown me harder bolt...

    IBS score question 49-5x target

Mike --we differ Mike we differ -it is obvious to me that there is no 9X--it is not obvious to you--that does not make me wrong and the rule book wrong--it makes it that we read and interpret different. bringing up things like the gunsmith thing and the tax thing have absolutely nothing to do...

    IBS score question 49-5x target

Does not have to do with the way it has been Just want to be clear about this--it was obvious to those that wrote and initially enforced the rule and taught others of us to enforce the rule that scoring is 10x, 10, 9, 8 etc---notice 9X does not exist--it was implicit in their writing --now if...

    IBS score question 49-5x target

next lower score Just for giggles and grins. a cross fired 10x has been a 9 for 38 years now without question or concern on anyone's part. It has been administered that way since the crossfire rule was written. Jim

    The "click" ????

My Experineces with "the click" here are some things that I have run across that significantly contribute to the click: Brass that as parent brass is too large for the chamber (less than .0015 inch clearance at rear and shoulder) This does not allow the brass to go far enough beyond its...

Christmas is coming a month early!

Tuner weighs about 4 ounces. .900 x 32 TPI so can be interchanged with Shadetree Can use the nylon 10x32 screws to hold --or for prettier setup-use 10x32 set screws backed with piece of lead shot

    Ammonia Based Bore Cleaners

416 SS and ammonia not a good mix ammonia and 416 SS are not a good combination--etching occurs. Particularly when put against sensitized surface. If 400 series SS was good for ammonia use it would be used in pulp and paper mills to transport ammonia for digesters--but, it is not only not...

    Michigan ibs 2009 score challenge

Sponsors Looks like a sound program. Now all that needs to be done is find some willing sponsors (like has happened in other states/regions) to get travelers made and to provide the annual trophies.. Jim

    Keeping gun in tune.

Tune Curve Might want to look at chapter 4 of Vaughn's book and look at the graph. 10 degree temp change can mean 10 FPS change in velocity and if you have the rifle "tuned" at the wrong place on that curve, you will get vertical.

    Keeping gun in tune.

Velocity verus Temperature I have data on velocity versus temperature and it is about 1 fps per degree fahrenheit. That is why Hodgdon developed the Extreme powders. They still vary with temperature but not as much. That data is based on pre-loads and then shot in different temperatures...

Roger Avery & Johnny Loric Shoot 25X in NC State Match

Piedmont Piedmont is a club that works hard to please the shooters and they endeavor to have the best of facilities. The matches this year were openly advertised that the grand agg would not be registered so all that ventured there knew in advance that the grand aggs were not registered...

    Keeping gun in tune.

Gene I do not disagree that the column of air has to be pushed/blown out of the bore--I disagree that it is the thing that has the major impact to take rifle out of tune. Gene--just use the gas equation and calculate condition 1 and condition 2 and then do the calculations for compression...

Roger Avery & Johnny Loric Shoot 25X in NC State Match

No Backers If an extra shot appears on a target and no one owns up to it---the the shooter who owns the target owns the shot--period. the NC shoot was not registered as a grand agg shoot because there were no backers. Larry Feusse shot a 250 2r5X at Harrison a couple of weeks ago at an...

    Keeping gun in tune.

Mike Picture on page 136 (hardback version) of Vaughn's book--labeled figure 7-13 note with figure explains that bullet is still about 3 inches back in bore and the shadowgraph is show result of the compressed air and the blowby...... some blowby occurs as neck expands and bullet is started Jim
