It is with great sadness to inform the BR community that Tom Appleberry of the Fairfax Virginia Rod & Gun Club died today.

His untimely death was a tragedy. Many questions remain unanswered, but there is one local news story at this time:

Tom was instrumental as one of the Fairfax Club originators for the BR matches. He has been a friend and a competitor for years. He loved to shoot and loved to talk with people. He was always able to yank a smile from one or more of us.

Tom will be missed.

Very Sad Indeed

Although I didn't know Tom he always spoke to me whenever I saw him. He did seem to be a very nice man. I was always pleased to see a man of his obvious age out competing. My sincere condolence to his family.

Tom was a real competitor. I shot pistols with him in the 80's then we started BR about the same time. He will be missed.

Sorry to hear of Tom's death, I always enjoyed talking to Tom, he had led an interesting life. Tom truly loved to shoot and enjoyed the fellowship of the other competitors. He will be missed, Steve

I'd always smile when I saw Tom as I looked around to see who had shown up at a match. He was always pleasant, and was clearly pleased when he was shooting well. He seemed to enjoy seeing others shooting well too, for that matter.

He'll certainly be missed...

I was shocked when I read the story...I didn't know him well, but always looked forward to vititing with him at the Fairfax matches...

He certainly won't be forgotten...As others have said, he was a true gentleman...

I had not seen Tom since my days at Fairfax. I will always remember him as a nice and gentle man. May they rest in peace. The news story last night on tv came as a shock, and I could not believe it was the Tom I knew. So sad. bob finger
