A Synopsis on the Score Discussions.

I must say, Mitch and his shadow have an interesting idea there. I assume the same thing could be done with a reticle set up, with a 6mm or .22 ring inside a .30 cal ring, but always score the .30 ring. Rick Graham

    Ideas for informal competition

Heavier bullets may not help as much as you think at 300 yds. (beyond 300 yds they will help) At our club in Kenmore WA, we shoot out to 300 yds the same as you. Several years ago when we had a factory class the rifles that dominated it were the PSS and varmint synthetic Remingtons in mostly...

    Rick Graham flags

Thanks, but I really didn’t clean house. I was slow to get my gun tuned, and came in 10th the first morning at 100 yds. By the afternoon at 200 I had it working, and had a very good yardage. That carried me through the rest of the shoot as I worked hard to hang with some guys that were shooting...

Congrats Steve! I believe Steve said this was the 40 year anniversary of when Manley helped him get started in the sport of Benchrest! So it was a fitting end to a weekend that had a little bit of everything… wind, rain, mirage, and a gully washer of a storm that blew through. And oh yeah, at...

    Wind flag placement.........

For 100 yds I'd just put them all out there more less evenly spaced. For 200 yds I'd put one each at 25, 50, 75, and 150 yds. 300 yards is a long distance to cover with 4 flags, but I would probably put one at 25 yds, one at 75 yds, one at 150, and one at 250. If there are places on your range...

    Where's Wally

I just talked to Wally. He is dealing with some health problems at the moment so that is why contacting him is iffy right now. He is still working on scopes when he can, so suggest you give him a little time and then try to contact him again. Rick Graham

    Practice targets?

On my site I have free downloadable targets that are very close to the same size rings as the NBRSA targets. (100 & 200 yd) Here is a link... http://www.brflags.com/targets.html They are set up five across so you can shoot a practice agg with sighter bull underneath. Rick Graham

Another new guy needs a hand

Dave, I see you are in California. Don't know where Merced is, but any particular range you are close to, and plan to shot at? Often it is a good idea to attend a BR shoot in your area and get to know some of the guys there. Sometimes those guys know of good shooting guns available in your area...

    6PPC: .262, .263, or .269 neck ???

Thicker necks...go for it! I have been using a .268 neck for a few years now. Pros are of course less neck turning. Less case preparation is always good, but also one thing I like is that when you drop a case off the bench you very seldom ruin it. The necks are much tougher because they are...

    New to BR

That’s good to hear… a new BR shooter! Welcome and good luck! The range is most often 100 and 200 yards, with 300 yds shot some. There are 600 yd and 1000 yd shoots but they are most often referred to as long range BR. Assuming you are shooting 100-200-300 yds, the best caliber to start with...

Lengths of Current Crop Of Actions...Short, Medium, Long???

Some would say the advantage of a longer action would be bedding area, which can’t hurt, but I also like a little longer action because of being able to spread out the rings on the scope a little bit more. I do like the short 2 lug Bats, because they are very fast with that short bolt. For these...

optimum barrel length on rail gun

Alright!, another rail shooter at Tacoma! My barrels for my Powell are 26" long. (that's as long as I can get in the box) :D Seems to work ok. Rick Graham
