What rifle would you suggest for shooting in my club's informal varmint centerfire class? I would like to shoot .223 as I already have all the reloading stuff, but want 1:8 twist. Any ideas? Bolt gun obviously.

You need to be a little more specific in the discription "informal varmint centerfire class". It has been my experience that very few competitions between men stay informal for very long.
Why the fast twist??. The one valid reason to go to a fast twist is to make use of the heavier, (ie, longer), high BC bullets used at longer yardages.

OK. We shoot at 100, 200, and 300 yards. Sometimes it's windy. I usually shoot 75 grain Hornady BTHP match bullets in my AR (1:8). So, I am considering a heavy barreled bolt gun with an adjustable trigger. Any changes from factory original puts me in another class. We have no regs for weight. I love Remington but their LTR has 1:9 twist. Will this make a difference with heavier bullets? How about Tikka, CZ, or others? I would like to keep the rifle price between $500-$1000. I'll use a Weaver T36 on top. Not interested in Savage, not sure why.

Heavier bullets may not help as much as you think at 300 yds. (beyond 300 yds they will help) At our club in Kenmore WA, we shoot out to 300 yds the same as you. Several years ago when we had a factory class the rifles that dominated it were the PSS and varmint synthetic Remingtons in mostly .223. At the time they had 1 in 12 twists which was good for the 52 grain match bullets. A well tuned rifle can do well out to 300 yds with the 52gr bullets. I would suggest barts 52’s in a 12 twist using VV133 or Benchmark.

May I suggest a Rem XR-100/223. XR's have 1:12 twist bull barrels wich will handle the smaller bullets and are cost effective at about $650. Try and look for one at Guns America or similar gun site like our classifieds.
I have had my XR agging in the mid 3's while applying standard Benchrest tuning technics. (52 gr Barts f/b's, N-133, Lapua Brass, 205r, primers etc, etc.)
Awhile back I aquired few true "BENCHREST" rigs and now my trusty XR sets in my safe collecting dust.

Wanna get rid of it? I had forgotten about the XR100, although 1:12 may not be perfect. I'll look around. I have always loved the model seven action. Thanks!

From what you said you can do to the Rifle, your best choice might be a bone stock Savage, one of the model 12 Varmint variations. If legal in the class, that new F-Class thing is something elase again.
In 223, or 308, these things are phenominoly accurate. Matched with good handloads, (ie,match bullets and Lapua Brass), they will shoot in the "threes".
Forget all of that heavy bullet stuff at 100-200-300 yards. At those ranges, accuracy and the shooters ability to read flags trumps everything. Get some good Benchrest Match bullets, good brass, a suitable powder, tune it, and have fun........jackie

I shoot a savage model 12 LRPV (223) in club match's in dublin ga, it's a really good shooter, I also have a Tikka T-3(223), it shoots just as good both shoot 52gr Fowler/Scheider Accuracy bullets on Lapua brass with 25.0 grs of Vitho N-133, If it's lega; I'd look at the Savage 12 LRPV in 6mmBR instead of a 223
