    Weaver competition XR scope question

I bought a Weaver XR, and have it on my LV. The scope without lens caps weighs 24.0 ozs on my digital postal scale. Might not be the best scope for a fiberglass stocked rifle, but has good possibilities for the carbon fiber stocked rifle. The barrel on my LV is 21.5", and complete rifle at the...

    New kid on the block

Just got the Weaver 46X XR scope with the fine crosshair. On my digital postal scale it weighs 24.0 ozs without the lens covers. About 16" long. Looks well made with a 48mm objective lens. Should have a little more light gathering ability than the Leupold 45's, but it is heavier than the Leupold...

Extraction problems of new unfired 6 PPC Lapua brass? Problem or not?

Thanks to all. Never thought about the new case being too short for the extractor to grab before firing. It makes sense. Anyway, I will keep the advice when fire forming cases.

Extraction problems of new unfired 6 PPC Lapua brass? Problem or not?

Extraction of new 6 PPC brass Lawrence, I chose a new Lapua case to go through the process of determining a new bullet seating depth for this new rifle. It is an iterative process of chambering and extracting a dummy cartridge and adjusting seating depth till I can get the bullet to just...

Extraction problems of new unfired 6 PPC Lapua brass? Problem or not?

Just stumbled upon the situation described below while setting up bullet seating for a new rifle using new brass. Looking for shooters comments. I have found that my rifles will not extract unfired 6 PPC Lapua 220 Russian cases after they have been chambered, but will extract cases after they...

    Fixed Power Scope or Variable?

Thanks to all. Thanks for the advice on scopes. Looks like a fixed power 40X will be my choice. BTW, I hear that a Leupold 36X scope can be boosted up to about 55X by optical services in NM. If anybody has some experience on the picture quality, scope reliability, etc I would like to hear...

    Fixed Power Scope or Variable?

I am considering buying a new scope for my 100/200 BR gun and wondering if one of the newer variable scopes have an advantage over the fixed power scopes. I currently have 40X and 50X scopes. None of these scopes are relatively cheap anymore, so I am asking for experienced comments from...

    PPC Brass Life

Thanks for the great advice! Everybody, Thanks so much for your advice! My loads would be considered moderate at 28.0 - 28.7 grains of V133 behind Barts 68 grain bullets, compared to match lists that show up to 30 grains of the powder. Looks like I will get a custom die and use a dozen cases or...

    PPC Brass Life

I have read where benchresters say that 6PPC brass will last a certain period of time or for X number of reloadings depending upon how hot the loads are. Outside of actual case failures, what other indicators are used to say that the brass is no longer reliable or serviceable? I have been away...

Locating Larson scope ring reducing bushings

To all for comments. I have a pair of BAT one piece 30 mm rings, and am looking for a set of reducing rings for 1" scope tubes. The folks at EGW tell me that their reducing rings are only built for their scope rings. I have read where Tony Larson makes these reducers but need his contact...

    anybody increasing rifle scope magnification?

I have just gotten back into benchrest after a dozen years away. The scope magnifications have really jumped! I have a Lyman/Seibert 25 LWBR scope that is 32X. Can this scope be modified to increase the magnificantion to say 40X or 45X? If so, who provides these services
