    Spring power

I had one when they 1st appeared and it would put a bb inside a old steel beer can but just dent wood boards at about any range. I never clocked it but, suspect it likely was around their claim but no more. It killed a ton of tweety birds and frogs at out to 20yds though.

    Rem RX-100

VarmintGuy Thanks. It is good to know the rifle should have potenial and the cartridge is possibly more then I thought. I put a shekel or two down on it last weekend and am going to give it a try as is. The cartridge isn`t something I`m totally against if I gave you that impression. I just have...

    Primer cup query

Actually I believe the CCI #34 & #41 are the toughest primers available. They are designed specificly to prevent slam fires in semi auto rifle with floating fireing pins. The Rem 7 1/2 was also designed to replace the 6 1/2 in the old 222 mag and 5.56 cartridges during early military...

    Rem RX-100

Thanks for the replies. Everything I`ve been hearing about these has been pretty much positive so far, I`m going to take a chance on this one. The rifle looks to be as NIB although it is being sold as used. The stock feels comfortable and the gun is not going to be carried far so weigth isn`t a...

    Rem RX-100

Tim are you sure about the boltface? I am under the impression both cartridges are built off the 223 cartridge and have a .378" base diameter.

    Rem RX-100

Anyone have any experiance with one of these? Any thoughts on them at all? They are supposed to be a Rem XP-100 variant with a M40X trigger I`m looking at one and the rifle looks like a nice start for a informal target/varmit rifle. The 204 isn`t my favorite cartridge but there is always the...

    Tight shell in RCBS press

It looks like you`ve a bit of a loose chamber and the web of the case is getting a work out from expanding when fired and then knocked back down when sized. It is not a uncommon event with factory chambers and regular dies. The die may be a bit dirty and grit is causing the scratches, if the...

    6x47 ?

I`m not sure what the Savage has from the factory. I am tempted though, nice reports on it everywhere and new is always nice. The same twist recommended for the 6x47? What about bbl length? 24"? 26"?

    6x47 ?

I`ve a well used M70 HV in 223 that is about ready for a new barrel or replacing. The barrel consistently walks ~ .75" as it heats over a match and I`m tired of playing with it. I shoot some club varmint matches and am thinking a slightly larger caliber might add a extra X or point or 2 to my...

Look what this guy uses to clean brass.

My dad used tri clorol etheline (sp?) when I was a boy to clean cases. I haven`t seen referance to either cleaner in years, and agree finding any would be a chore.

    neck tension

Thanks to all that answered. alinwa, you`re right, the rifles in question are factory varmites, and a couple of custom barreled, slightly modified hunting guns. I asked due to all the threads I see on various forums toting bushing dies and varying tension for accuracy. I once tried comparing a...

    neck tension

1st I`m not a benchrest shooter, but am interested in getting what I can from my rifles. A few of your ideas cross over into my loading and I try to adopt what I can. A few things are not quite clear to me about why you guys do what you do though when loading your cartridges and neck tension is...

Has Anyone Tried this Powder Measure...

Boyd the camera is a Sony Cyber Shot H-9. I used the video setting and my chrono tripod to hold it in place. I`m glad you liked it, I am not real happy with it, the narration was not as easy to come up with off the top of my head as I thought it would be. I felt like Obama without his...

Has Anyone Tried this Powder Measure...

My 1st attempt to put together a video and it shows, but it does give a idea of what these measures do. http://s34.photobucket.com/albums/d149/1Savage/video/?action=view&current=JDSoperation.mp4

    cleaning ?

Lefty, not a semi-auto, a bench gun or so he hinted. Jackie, as i said earlier, I use a little Rem Clean on occasion when carbon seems to be building and the WipeOut does a very good job on the copper. Accuracy seems to remain very consistent with this cleaning. Although I may be leaving some...

    cleaning ?

I read a post on another forum I, frequent on cleaning a barrel where a shooter claimed the proper way to clean was to use a crown protector, insert the rod from the muzzle, and only pull the brush or patches from chamber to muzzle. He claimed bore guides were worthless, and that he and bench...

    .223 load ideas

H4895 should work very well with any of the bullets listed. Varget does best for me with heavier bullet, 69-70 gr+. To be honest there isn`t a poor component choice on your list IMO. Letting the rifle tell you which bullet it prefers is the best way to pick one. Once you decide the rifle likes a...
