Take a look at what is recommended for locking lugs in this article. Opinions?

Had some galling in my Panda lugs from sand blowing into them during some matches at Ben Avery Range at Phoenix, AZ a few years ago. Just barely got finished. Got back to NC and cleaned everything up, stoned the bolt lugs a bit, pulled the barrel and cleaned and stoned the lugs on the action a...

    13" South Bend

They're right proud of it at $4,000! Especially since you'll probably want to do some upgrading. I'll have to agree with Jerry, wish there were more American options. You'll find better value elsewhere, but if you're Americam vs. foreign.....

    13" South Bend

Sorry, but this particular lathe is the exact same thing and replacement parts for the Clausing and this model South Bend are ordered from South Bend.

    13" South Bend

Had one just like it except under the Clausing nametag. Sold it for $1,000 and felt fortunate to get that much for it as it was pretty much used up. A couple of things I wish it had was a little slower speed for threading, a little more horsepower (better phase converter), and a better...

I'm located in Randleman, not an easy drive, but shoot at the range in Butner quite often and can do a "pick up" there.

    CNC for stocks..?

Steve, A good manual duplicator will set you back close to $10,000. Most of the ones for $3,000 or less are in the "tinker toy" class and will scrap more stocks than they will make for you. You'll be better off buying stocks from someone else. The problem is ridgidity. Wood grain never runs...

    CNC for stocks..?

I cut stocks on a CNC router both outside and inside (inletting). The problem, or not, depending on how you wish to look at it, is that the CNC system doesn't use a pattern in the traditional sense, you have to design the stock in a CAD system and transfer that to the CNC system for machining...

Calling the gun plumbers. . .

It sounds like another ACGG show? Or do you have another type of venue in mind? What's the plan? Custom wood or flashy paint jobs?

What type of vise do you stockmakers use?

I use the Versa Vise available from Brownells. I think there is also a Chinese knockoff available somewhere too. I did see a vise at Woodworkers Supply that looked interesting. If I remember correctly it was a musical instrument maker's vise.

    .308 Palma chamber reamer?

Alan, What round did you design the '95 Palma reamer for?

    .308 Palma chamber reamer?

Bob, To directly answer your question, I have chambered barrels for customers with the '95 Palma reamer who are using the new 2156 Sierras and are happy with the combination. Sometimes we seem to beat these dimensions to death when what we need to realize is that the Palma reamers are made to...

    .308 Palma chamber reamer?

I don't have drawings here in front of me so I can't be 100% positive of dimensions but you can probably get drawings from someone at Manson or PTG. But for a little background, the Bisley 150 is ground to safely chamber and fire all the modern 7.62 NATO cartridges and the '95 Palma was also...

    .308 Palma chamber reamer?

I switched to a 12 twist about 2 years ago. One of the reasons was the Lapua bullet which is about the same length as the 175 Sierra. It doesn't hurt with the new 155.5 Bergers and 155 Sierras either, although they still shoot fine in a 13 twist. Anyway, I think I'm staying with the 12 twist...

    .308 Palma chamber reamer?

Not sure about the M852 reamer but it may have been for the m852 Lake City match ammo. I think, but am not positive, that that ammo had the 168gr Sierra Matchking bullet and was used as sniper ammo as well as for the M14 rifle in National Match competition. I can't speak for all the Palma...

    .308 Palma chamber reamer?

There are in fact several Palma reamers. There is the '95 Palma, the Bisley 150, and the .308 Gamboa just to name 3. All have a slightly tighter than normal neck and a little shorter than normal throat. All are set up for a 155 grain bullet. The Bisley 150 is dimensioned so that it will accept...

    Your slickest action?

I'd like to say that my Panda is the slickest action that I have but it isn't anywhere near my push feed Winchester. Absolutely the smoothest, easiest operating action that I own.

    israli 98 action

Just to add confusion, a good friend of mine won the long range nationals at Camp Perry a few years ago. What did he use? A 300 Win Mag based on a single shot Mauser action.
