You may ask why does this suck

I'm not a machinist, so I can't imagine how a soft 17 cal speck of lead could be chucked up and turned in a lathe.
 
I'm not proposing that a pellet gets re-machined, rather a pellet is produced from lead wire on cnc equipment. It may require a more machinable lead alloy than pure lead.

There was a Japanese made pellet a few decades ago all machined by lathe. Unfortunately i forget the name.

I reckon JSB became complacent well before 2006 and never had a good batch since 2003.
Bring it on a new supplier i would be interested in trying and testing.
