Worlds most accurate marauder gets a valve job

The factory valves in marauders are molded rather crude affairs with out a sealing oring on the valve stem. If the seat in a marauder gets damaged the whole valve body has to be replaced. I had a damaged body and decided to bore the seat out and put a replaceable plastic seat in it. I then machined a titanium valve that is over 25% lighter than the factory one.

A quick test tonight shows the gun using around 12cc-bar/fpe, which I'm happy with. This is the same gun that Mr Finney used to set the world postal outdoor record, 747 38X.
Here is a photo of a 23 shot group shot at 25 meters with the gun last week.

I wonder what % of the material of that gun actually came from Crossman at this point :)
Great post, we love to see the surgery you're doing to this gun to take it from budget to 6 million dollar man.

Not much. The next change may be the bolt/probe.
The stock valve body on this gun as manufactured by crosman was poorly done. The hole for the valve stem was drilled about .020" off center.

So Dan, what you're saying is we should just all thow in the towel whenever the infamous Mr. Finney comes out to play?

Good going Dan!

Dan,looks like the only way I can keep up w/dan`s gun is if you could adopt me.Tried out the .22 reg. etc. . seems to be working fine. Took off shroud and that helped some. Thanks for the fine job. Regards, mark

Will you be using it at Holbrook Saturday?
