are you improved BR guys using for shoulder bumping and neck sizing? I read that the Hornady expander mandrel is better for making the false shoulder when fire forming whats the going consenses. Ineed somehelp getting the dies for this project, calling redding and ordering cant be the best route can it?

I suggest

that you shoot 3 cases 3 times in your 6 PPC and then send the 3 fired cases to Lynwood Harrel and he will send you the correct sizing die for your case.
He usually includes a gizzy for measuring shoulder set back.

Brandon, if you are making cases for a 6 Dasher or 6 BRX, I'd suggest using any tapered expander for a .257. Hornady, Sinclair, K&M or any other make will work as long as it's a long gradual tapered expander. Neck the BR case up to .257 with the tapered expander and then use a 6 BR full length size (not a bushing die) die to neck the case back down to 6mm. Start with the die backed off a little over a tenth of an inch and gradually turn the die in until the stripped bolt will just close on the case. This will set up a fireforming shoulder to fireform the Dasher or BRX case. If you are making cases for a 6 BRDX, then you just have to fireform for it as the shoulder isn't moved forward and there's no need to neck it up to a larger caliber. If you are making cases for a .22 Dasher, then you don't have to neck the 6 BR case up as it's already one caliber larger than the .22. With the .22 Dasher, you back off a .22 BR full length die and gradually turn it in until the case will just chamber with slight resistance when you chamber the case in your rifle. Always remove the firing pin assembly when setting up your dies as it's easier to obtain the correct feel for where the fireforming shoulder needs to be set. If you have to hit the bolt closed with the palm of your hand, then you need to turn the die in just a little bit more to set your fireforming shoulder.

Sorry guys its a 6 Dasher, Stolle Panda, krieger barrel shehane stock. I spoke to someone at harrells and he said no luck with the dasher he only had dies for the BR no improved versions. I looked in my midway catalog and I cant seem to see anything as far as a tapered expander, does anyone have a part number or pic? thanks everyone

It's a Dasher not a PPC.

Neal Jones, send him 3 fired cases fired three times in that chamber. Life will be good once again.

Brandon, I have one Redding type s full length bushing die in stock for the 6 Dasher. The part number is 77648. If you are interested in it, send me a pm or e-mail me. List price as a custom die for it in 2007 was $126. I'd sell it for quite a bit less. It's not listed in 2008 Redding's type S dies, so is evidently still a custom die from Redding. I don't have any tapered expanders in stock.

You can get tapered expanders in .257 along with a die body to fit their tapered expander from Sinclairs or some of the other benchrest suppliers. Redding makes a tapered size button for their decapping rod assemblies. The Redding part number for the .25 caliber is 19256. You can get it as a button only or as complete decapping rod assembly. Retail on the button is $16.50 and $24 for the complete decapping rod assembly with tapered button. Everyone sells them for quite a bit less than retail. Sinclairs probably has that in stock as well.
