What's your favorite bedding goop?

I have been using Acraglas since about 1966 and Acra-Gel since when ever it came out... and have really never had a need to try some other make.

Araldite K138.

It seems to be about impervious to any solvent, doesn't have a metallic filler that can surface with use & corrode & is easy to mix & apply.

Bedding Material

For all of our whiz bang ideas concerning all sorts of fancy epoxies and glues, it is still hard to beat good old AcraGlas. After all, bedding Rifles is what it was designed to do.

The very first Rifle I ever bedded was with AcraGlas, that was in 1970. It was a Fajen Stock and a Santa Barbara Mauser chambered in 30-06. My oldest Brother still has that Rifle, and the bedding is still just fine.

That is for general bedding, for glue ins, I use Devcon or JB Weld.........jackie

I once bought a new rifle and discovered that it had been "glas bedded" with hot-melt glue!

It wasn't hot-melt bedded for long, I couldn't rest until I had re-done it with Acraglas. It shot about the same afterward, but I felt better about it and that's the main thing.

I'm pretty sure the Acraglas will hold up better than the hot-melt would have. It was pretty easy to remove the stuff.

hot glue......
A friend once told me about a guy he knew that bedded his rifle with beeswax, the guy thought it was the greatest thing until the barrel warmed up...haha.

Same here. I add the powdered stainless powder to mine to increase the strength some. It's a good product with ample working time for a beginner to learn how to bed properly. If you make a big enough mistake, the cured compound can be removed with a die grinder or Dremel.

I re-bedded one a guy had done with black roof patch.

For my "Good Goop" of choice, Bob Pease (RIP) got me using Devcon F and F2 many moons ago, I still use them as well as the 10110.
