He's one nice person. Drives his motor home over and shoots with us then spends the night. His Daystate was one the blink so he bought a rapid to shoot.

Hi back at ya "El Diablo" :)

I just recently started trying the bench rest thing, and have made three of Larry's matches so far. Tried the GP the first time, a Lazaglided HW97K the second, and a new-to-me Vanquish the third. I think I am going to try to make the Vanquish my bench rest gun, since the stock lends itsself more to that application. The GP is just too much of a field target gun.

The bench rest game seems like a lot of fun, and another excuse to shoot air guns. The Texarkana bunch are great to shoot with.

Its funny, it makes "Me" Happy and my Wallet "Sad" to have found yet another facet of the airgun hobby/sport, lol!!!

I just got a dedicated USFT Hunter Bench Rest Gun and its shooting really good, now I need to weigh and sort out a ton of pellets for it!

I was thinking your GP would be great if you either removed the hamster or replaced the wood with a 3" wide x 12" x 1" thick piece of aluminum or stainless steel.

I'm really kicking myself for not buying Helder's Grand Prix, it was a ridiculously accurate .177 and would shoot ragged hole groups at 50 yards with 3 different pellets!

Are you going to the Nationals?

Good luck with the new BR Game!

Regards,

Tony

That's one great looking gun. I saw the pictures that you posted on the Yellow forum. I have USFT hunter # 6 that I sohoot the benchrest game with.
Good Luck Larry

I know what you mean about the sad wallet thing. I've got to stop looking at the Yellow Classifieds. (Like that is going to happen :) )

I thought for sure you would have jumped on Helder's GP. Wasn't it one of those that went back to England for some updates/fixes? I haven't decided for sure about using the Vanquish for bench shooting. The GP is about as accurate, and could be used without the hamster as you said.

Not going to the Nationals. You?

Thank you Larry! Tim & LD did one heck of a job

on building up that gun for me! Now I've got the tool, I gotta practice and develop my skills using it!

Ordered up wind flags today, have one set on order and one set shipping today, gotta become friendly like with the wind as we've had a bad relationship historically, lol!:)

Keep up the good shooting!

Yep, the blasphemy to speak of not looking at the Classifieds, lol!!!

I wish I had my old Vanquish back, it'd be perfect for the 25 yard game. Yep, Helder's went back and more importantly, as far as I know, his received more attention/updates than any other GP, hence why it was so darn consistently accurate and with a variety of pellets!

I envision the GP with heavy metal forearm and a lightweight Weaver T36 or Leupold Comp Scope to give it a super low center of gravity for BR use...

Bummer, one of the guys I was planning on doing the last minute trip with just bailed out so I need to talk to my other bud who was interested in the last minute trip.

Tony
