We chambered a barrel yesterday

I went over to a good friend of mines house yesterday morning to chamber up a ppc barrel, and i really enjoyed the experience. I watched and helped with my eyes and ears wide open. I really do no think i will have any trouble picking up the skills to do my own work once i get my lathe this fall. We used the Gordy method to chamber this barrel and biy does it shoot. I took it out this morning up to the farm just to play around a bit and ended up shooting some 200 yard prone. I managed a 4 shot group that measured .188 in a 20 to 30 MPH wind. wind was so bad it kept blowing over my wind flags. LOL!! I really dont have any point to this post i guess other than to say i think i will really enjoy my lathe once we get one here. It seems to me to be a pretty straight forward common sence motion of the hands and mind. I think having my own lathe will open up a hole new deminsion to my shooting hobbie. Thers just so much a guy can do on one of these. I already have the projects stacking up. LOL!! I wont go into detail about the ordeal but i will answer any questions you might have about my experience. I will say that i think the hardest part of it all is dialing in the barel. That can take some time i think for a noobie lathe operator. Also buying the proper tooling could be a choir. Thanks Lee

I have never regretted buying mine. Later when I bought a milling machine I was able to do even more 'turning ideas into reality'. I have an active imagination :). A borescope was the last piece of the puzzle.

After doing this since the mid 60s I have learned to make black chips, blue chips, white chips, and silver chips. If I had thought I would have taken pictures. Lee, you might do this as you progress and keep a log.
