WBC 10 Team US Questions....

I am not really interested in what actions, stocks, scopes etc.

These are the hard core questions I have. When the guys make it home it would be nice to KNOW, NO BS.

1) There was talk about the powder on another thread. Did anybody actually take there own from the US? If so that is a lot of money tied up in large caliber brass and bullets just to get it there. I don't want hearsay answers just facts.......

2) Did they take 1 or a couple rifles, LV and a HV or most travelled with just the LV?

3) How about an extra barrel or 2?

I ask these questions because the members of team US are people who a lot of shooters look up to for there many accomplishments and abilities.

I have been watching Gene Bukys, the new World Champion, get ready for this event for over a year.

I think he took one Rifle. He spent countless hours at the range deciding which Rifle, barrel, bullet, etc to go with.

Iam pretty sure he also took his own powder. If I am not mistaken, the rules concerning bringing Ammunition into the Country of South Africa said the rounds you bring must be for the Rifle you bring. I believe a shooter could take 300 loaded rounds into the country. But, no powder.

Since there was no limit on bullets, it would not be difficult to simply load 300 used cases up with powder, seat a bullet, ansd simply pull the bullets upon arrival. That would give you about 1 1/4 pounds of powder to shoot the event. That obviously was enough.

I am not sure if Gene took extra barrels or not.

While I have not seen the equipment list, I bet that 90 percent of the shooters simply shot their Sporter for both classes.

I said Sporter because I would bet that 98 percent of the shooters were shooting a 6PPC, which, at 10.5 pounds, is really a legal NBRSA Sporter.

The equipmemt list will tell the tale. But I'll bet I am right in my assumptions.

Gene will be back in a week or so. Perhaps he will answer some of these questions personally.........jackie
