Walt Berger Passes

Here was a guy...

Walt was a guy who would answer the phone and answer patiently any question one had regards bench rest shooting. He did not care if you were competing against him in a match. His answers were always the right answer.

Men like Walt don't come along very often and the sport is less without him.

I first met walt and eunice in visalia back in 99. We became good friends. He got me started in bullett making and gave me priceless knowledge and info on bullet making including what dies to buy and how to get organized to be able to make a good bullet. The benchrest crowd has lost a great competitor that will be missed. He has Done so much for our sport and never ask anything in return, yes people like Walt are hard to come by. I am very fortunate to of met him and his wife. RIP my friend

One of the most gracious advocates our sport has ever had! It was such a pleasure to meet him and witness his ability to both shoot and promote benchrest to everyone at the WBC 15 in Calgary. He stepped in at the last minute to fill in on U.S.A. team A for Tony Boyer and with a strange gun and no practice helped carry them to a Silver medal. I was there when he shot the .165 200 yard group to the cheers of the whole line. He graciously visited with all (and there were many) who wanted to meet him. Our condolences to Walt's family in this time of sorrow.<br>

Many years ago when I first started chasing accuracy I used to stop by Walt's little shop on Camelback Road in Phoenix. He was always willing to take the time to share his expertise and offer some valued advise.

We are diminshed.

Very sad news

This is very sad news indeed and a great loss for our benchrest community. Walt was one of the most knowledgeable shooters and bullet maker that I had the honour to meet and a above all a great person. Walt was also with George Kelbly Sr. behind the idea of the World Benchrest Championship that started to roll in France in 1991, thank you Walt for all you did to benchrest. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
