Have any of you seen and/or worked with some of the new view borescopes on the market right now? Check out the Matco at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dy24Oew64mo
Don't know who the actual manufacturer is but Matco (and I am sure many other tool suppliers) is offering a handheld video borescope that has a 5.5 mm flexible probe. It has a 90 degree mirror that threads onto the end of the probe and can see the interior of the bbl similar to a Hawkeye.
The video image on the LCD screen is a bit grainy but the device has a cable to connect it to your computer monitor. The picture on the monitor is much sharper than the image on the small LCD screen. It will capture still digital pictures and also take up to 25 seconds of video with audio recording. The end of the probe has an adjustable intensity LED light and the screen image has a zoom/wide angle feature as well.
The retail for about $865 but you can probably purchase them for less if you are on good terms with your dealer.
The probe is just a bit too large for a 22 cal bbl but fits a 6mm and up just fine.
With the probe being flexible, it may have a lot more uses than a rigid borescope. These are new on the market and my Matco dealer gave me one to play with over the weekend. I am not selling these or have any financial interest in the product. Just sharing information with all of you.
