I am thinking of having a VFS rifle built, 13.5lb limit. Will be on Rem short action with Krieger barrel in 30BR. What stock would you recommend for this project?

Thanks,

Roger Q.

Ditto on the Edge very good stock and will definatly keep you under weight.

I have had a couple different 30br rifles built and from my limited experience the Robertson Borden stock has the least amount of FELT recoil opposed to a McMillan edge or a TMBR. Lee

I agree, any of the current crop of Benchrest Stocks intended to be used on a 100-200 yard Benchrest Rifle will do just fine. Especially since you are building a true HV at 13.5 pounds.

If I were you, since you are building a HV from the start, have the maker add more materiasl where it counts. This will stiffen up the stock, and add more dampenning. My HV 30BR is built on a Robertson that weight right at 38 ounces.........jackie

Thank You Gentlemen! Now to weigh the action and see how fat a barrel I can order.

W/ a 700 action, and a heavy stock (mid 30's oz's) you will be able to use a max heavy taper. You will most likely even be able to use some butt weight to balance the rifle better. Just don't go overboard on your barrel length. 21-22" is all you really need
