Had first UBR 100 and 300 yard match at Farmand (Indiana) today. Had 20 rifles from 5 states. Great turnout in cold weather

Sure wish I could have made it. Great facility and great fellows. Scores looked pretty good for a cold day and most had never shot the format before.

I hope they are considering putting on some of these in warmer weather too. :) WD

John,
Much thanks from John B. & I. We enjoyed the hospitality and the match and intend to get back up for at least one match next season.

I looked it up.
That's in old Mike Schwartz backyard. He was a fine Hunter/Varmint Hunter/Score shooter.
Did I mention that he was also a fine machinist?

this is good to see. just 30 min from me. I will be a rookie in formal br but hope to participate next year in some form. need to get the rules & spec's for the gun classes. hope this continue's to grow in this area!

There are a minimum of rules. You can get information on Classes and what rules there are @ ultimatebenchrest.com
If you have questions you can't get answered get back to me with a PM or email me.....
You have some good guys at Farmland. If They & you want it to grow, it will.

first match

Nice range facing north with woods on left. Fairly flat. Good facilities. Had a real good time Nice bunch of guys. A little confusion and lots of questions getting started but as soon as we started shooting everything got smoothed out pretty fast. For a first match it went very well. Looking forward to shooting there again next year. If you haven't tried UBR try it I think you will like it.

Thanks to John Beuchamp and Rick Fox for their help at the match. First time most of the guys had ever shot UBR and some of the rules were a little confusing but we got through it and having it late in season will help by learning our mistakes and correcting them in next years matches. Most guys who have never shot UBR like it after they try it. The closest range to us that shoots UBR is around 4 1/2 hours so being in Indiana hopefully guys will try it without having the long drive. By being registered UBR matches it will count toward shooter of year points. Saturday we had shooters from IN, KY, TN, OH, and MI, great for a cold windy day.

Good to hear there are plans for more matches there. I wanted to make it but found out too late and didn't have the time to get ready. Looking forward to seeing how it goes next year.

Wow!

There were some pretty darned good scores posted there considering that all but 3 (?) of the shooters had never shot that format before. Plus it was a little chilly there too and even that didn't slow down ole Greyfox. Good shooting Rick!

Looking forward to shooting a few of those matches next year. ;) WD
