Tunnel testing a tuner and ammo

Butch,
Do those look like regular 100 yd. benchrest targets to you? If they are, and the OD of the mothballs are .5, it looks to me like the measurements are in thousandths of a unit that is considerably larger than an inch.

When I tune in the tunnel, I go from verticle to round group every 7 or 8 clicks. Finding the setting that has a round group that holds for several clicks in each direction is the hard part. When you find a setting with a wide tuning spot, it will hold for changes in temp and humidity...at least that's what it seems to me. Your mileage may vary....

I had the good fortune of being able to shoot Indoors to tune my rifle this past winter. I found 2 spots where I had a wide tune; both about the same number of clicks wide. The most dependable is from 18 through 25 and then again from 30 through 35 and again at 40 through 45 and again @ 50, etc.

I began @ zero and went out first in 100 clicks, came back on 50's, went out again on 25's. By then the accuracy nodes had shown themselves. I then began going 5 clicks at a time and then one on either side and until I had established where the rifle will shoot 3 bullets inot a single undisturbed bullet hole and will repeat them. while the 40 to 50 might look to be wider, the in between numbers throw that tune off, whereas the 18 through 25 will keep a very small hole. I have wndered what a lot more weight might do but then, how much testing does one do? One could wear the "Goodie" out of the barrel and still not know, eh.
