Tuners and Tuning:

The Purdy prescription is a very promising prospect for us to work with. It seems almost too good to be true. There are a couple of things I wonder about however.

1. Will the tune, once achieved, remain so for altitude changes and 2. air density changes? It has been my observation in fooling with tuners on CF and RF rifles that changes in altitude have adversely affected the tune of my rifles as has air density, which may follow with the altitude thing. I'm thinking that provisions should be made when constructing one's "Barrel Ornament" to enable one to easily tweak one's tune if necessary and , perhaps, a log kept as to what position is to be used for those aforementioned items.

Hope this doesn't sound like I'm throwing cold water cause I'm not, just wondering is all.

Thank You Tony for this big step in making rifles work well.

More success today !

I made a bloop tube for CZ 200 today. This one wasn't as easy as the one I did for the EV2, basically because of the limited space between the barrel and air cylinder. I made this one close to the length the RX requires and made it from steel instead of aluminum. Once I finished the tube and installed it, I went to my range , which is like 50 steps from my lathe.

There was a cold, sharp, gusty wind today but I must say, that little CZ has never shot better. I shot a 250-13 with it using three different pellets I had around, some with gray corrosion on them :) . (first 250 with this rifle)

I am not sure I am exactly in tune but I'm dern close if not right on it. I am thinking that because of the cold day, the question of DA may be answered, to some degree.

Fun Stuff, eh ?

Pete,

Which harmonic tuning were you using: 5, 7 or 9, for calulating the size of the tuner?
