it's just the proliferation of adjustable trigger hangers, etc. that points out there is more interest and activity. It wasn't that long ago one would be ridiculed for even mentioning trigger timing. How could anyone who was not adept at the Black Arts ever think they might be able to figure something out and fix it, eh?

I've seen many posts and discussions on the subject over the years, and no small amount of misinformation. I know that a large portion of the shooting community hasn't a clue and even among experts, there are differences of opinion at to what is important. Some action designs simply fall short on firing pin fall if the trigger is timed to have perfectly neutral handoff. In the rimfire world, there is such a thing as too much firing pin travel, so it may be beneficial to have a little relief at hand off. There is definitely something to be gained from understanding this subject.

In a perfect world, we could always have smooth, easy bolt lift and closing and consistent ignition. Easier said than done.

There's a reason that some rifles win and some rifles never win. Trigger "things" may be partly the cause....if not most of the cause.

I for sure have not clue as to what exactly Trigger Timing is or how to do it, but when Jim Borden built my newest action, he asked if I wanted the trigger, hung, timed and tuned I said yes and assume that it is better than if he hadn't done all that.
