Tomball Gun Club After Ike

Below are some pics of the damage done by Ike at TGC. As is/was the case around this entire area there are a BUNCH of trees down.

I know many of you still have extensive damage and many still don't have electricity. However, a workday is scheduled for this Sat. (9/27) at 8:30 for those who can make it. Chainsaws and hand tools are needed.

Also, know that Ike blew in a swarm of mosquitoes, many of the saltwater variety -- you know, the ones with the 2" proboscis (feels like). So pitch in a can of repellent if you can be there.

The 100 yd backers are almost totally destroyed and will have to be rebuilt. The 200 yd setup only has one backer missing.

My thoughts and prayers are with all that suffered damage. We were very fortunate at my home and only had trees (about 50) downed.

I haven't been up there yet. How did the new Loading Area Cover on the left side come out??.

Glenn,Why didn't they schedule the work day for Sunday. Right now, Sat is just another work day at my shop........jackie

The loading area

is fine. I didn't see any damage to the new structure, the benches (both loading and shooting), or the cover over the firing line in that area. The only structural damage that I saw at the line was what was in the pics -- the cover over it at the East end of the building.

I don't know about the safety system electronics. The box is just hanging so we may well have gotten some damaged wires and/or water.

I didn't go inside the building -- wish I had.

Its bad enough but could have been much worse.

... sorry I missed your 2nd question about the workday. I got notification in an email from Mark Nunley. I don't know how wide the distribution has been on it nor just how many members have heard by word-of-mouth.

If we don't get the place cleaned up Sat. I'll let you know and maybe we can work up a group for Sun. I can work Sun. afternoon but have to be in chruch Sun. morning.

Glen I have to work Sat. but I am willing to help Sun. I also heard the anual meeting was Sun at 1 pm. russell m

Thanks for the offer. I feel pretty sure all help would be appreciated. However, I heard you had a lot of storm damage. Please don't feel obligated to come out and help -- I know you and your family have other priorities.

There's a lot of clearing to do and some dismantling of damaged structure. The rebuilding will likely occur later. I was at the most recent board meeting where they discussed rebuilding/re-roofing the shooting line. Maybe Ike just saved a bit of the tearing down of the old stuff.

I'm waiting for my adjuster to contact me and make a apointment
to survey my roof damage.

I lost a few shingles during the storm and as a result some of my
sheetrock got alittle wet.

I have done all that I can for now and if the club needs laborers
I would be honored to lend a hand...

October 5th Match ...

Is the club match previously scheduled for Sunday, October 5th, still going to be held ??? Art

Oct 5 Match

I see no reason why we would cancel our final match. The main loading area is unaffected. The benches might not be covered, but unless it rains, we will just have to endevour to persevere.........jackie

Jackie/Club Match

I forgot you chambered up a new barrel for the 30ppc rig. I'll
make due with my VFS rig......:)

Club match

The club match sounds like a great idea to me. I would wrassle Vic for the 30ppc but I am afraid that would be a losing proposition for me for sure.
