Just a reminder. I will have the gates open a 6:00am, we will start shooting somewhere around 9:00, or when everybody is ready.
The Format is 100 yards, for score. That is five 5-shot matches, 7 minute time limit. We use the standard NBRSA Score Target. A perfect score is 250-25x. The "x" is the tie breaker only.

We have three classes, Factory, Modified, and Benchrest. 1st, 2d, and 3d place Ribbons for each class. Bring what ever you have, we will put you in what ever class I think you Rifle falls into.

John Jones will probably cook again, so come out, shoot some good scores, and have a good time.......jackie

Tomball Match

Hope you have a great turnout this time. Unfortunately I am going to have to miss it. We have a family reunion next weekend.

I sure did want to defend my modified Ribbon.

See you at the next match.

Joe

A cold front,

maybe, just a cool front, would surely be nice for next weekend. It was just a bit warm out there today.

Jackie, you think you could arrange for one of those about Friday?

Glen :)

Directions from Austin ...

Jackie, I'm driving over from Austin on Saturday August 2nd. Using 290 to 2920 to Tomball. Staying at the Tomball Inn on State Highway 249 Saturday night. Zion appears to intersect 249 north of the Inn. Can you provide directions to the club from there. Thanks, Art

Proceed down Zion for about a mile. You will cross a mainline Rail Road track. Go about another 3/4 mile, and start looking for the big yellow Tomball Gun Club sign on the left. If you reach a bridge over a creek, you have gone too far. Zion dead ends into E Huffsmith. If you make it to there, you have gone about .4 miles too far.
I will put a stake with a target on the turnoff to the range. The range road is a dirt road that goes about a mile back into the woods and dead ends into the Range. I will have my cell phone. If you get lost, call me. The number is (832) 689-4157
See you there.......jackie

Hey fellers!!! Wait a dadgum second..........I've lived in Houston all my 49 years. The last 30 or so right about 249 & Louetta. Tell me about Tomball Shooting Club. I'm nearing the completion of a rifle build (6BR, Savage Target Action, Shehane Lee Six stock, McGowen barrel). It's the only rifle I have right now (due to losses in second marriage, why that piece of...oops), but I sure might be interested in coming out and watching and loitering around. I'm doing my CHL at Shiloh Pistol Range Saturday but the match is Sunday, right ???? Sounds veeery interesting.

Thanks,

Curtis

The Tomball Gun Club is a Private Club just off Zion Road, North of Tomball. It was established in 1962. The membership is limited to 250 members. There might be a membership vote this year to increase that to 300, as the waiting list is quite substantial.
We hold two NBRSA Registered Benchrest Matches each year, plus we have four Club Matches, the next one being this coming Sunday. We try to keep the Club Matches informal, anybody is welcome to come out and shoot. Heck, if you don't have anything ready at this time, come out and take a look. We run it just like a real Benchrest Match, without all of the "rules", aside from safety.

Each Tomball Club Menber is allowed a single guest on other days.

We have a saying, "A membership in the Tomball Gun Club is worth it's weight in good bullets".........jackie

Jackie,

I sent you a couple of emails recently about the progress on my 30 Grendel, hope you got them. Thanks again, she is working very well.

I tired to send this in a private message, but got an error that you inbox is full.

How does one go about getting on the waiting list for TGC??

Thanks!!

At the first of the year, we were told by the club's Board of Directors thet they would not be taking any more applications. The pile is too big now.

I have been shooting Registered Matches at Tomball since the mid nineties, but I just got in a few years ago after having a application on file for two years.

Benchrest Shooters are a distinct minority at The Tomball Gun Club. Of the 250 members, only about 10 are active NBRSA Shooters.
But, those 10, and their guest, probably do 80 percent of the shooting at the range through the year.........jackie

All this, per John Johns, "chief food specialist".

Thank-you, John, for the food arrangements and thank-you, Jackie, for
