To Lynn..

Lynn..

Lot of distractions since my last post which was:
Don't let others keep you away. This is just a conversation between you and me. Now, I think I may have solved the riddle. If you were to run a plastic patch thru the bore it would not absorb the water but would pick up water and other particles on it's surface and you would be able to see the water. Am I getting warmer?
Someone mentioned that instead of a plastic patch that maybe a slug is used. Whether it's plastic or lead I'm still interested in how much water you found. Can you give me some description of quantity?

Lynn,

I'm not sure I said I knew there was water in the bore, I just pointed out some simple tests that did similar things to what a rifle round going off does, and showed that they too cause condensation. I only happen into the CF forum infrequently so I'd not followed much of the other stuff people were quoting and refering to.

In any case, it's a tough call to make saying this causes fliers.

Hey, if it turns out that he's right, more power to him. Rest assured, I'm not going to pick up the info and run with it. I kinda prefer finding things on my own.

Unfortunately, the way Bill presents stuff puts anyone who subscribes to his ideas on a bad footing. As you know, I disagree with the vast majority of his ideas (and I only read VERY few). Early on I heard of a few and when examining the tests and conclusions I decided that I didn't like his conclusions, given the test parameters he used. From that point forward, I just discounted all of what he said and avoided opening a post of his.

Before using post hits as a gauge for interest, consider this. (I'm sure I have the numbers wrong but...) From "Private Parts" (Howard Stern), the average Howard Stern fan listened to his program for 20 minutes a day. The average HS Hater listened for 2 hours 45 minutes per day. People watch Jerry Springer too. Even re-runs of it.

I think Bills a relative of Sigmund Freud and he's having a laugh.

Friend Lynn:

I suppose you'll have to carry on without me......I guess friend Wilbur has decided I can no longer post......??

Your friend, Bill Calfee

Thanks Lynn..

You said: I don't know how to properly describe the quantity but you know its wet and you can feel it between your fingers or in your palm.
A drop maybe two small drops is my best guess.
It isn't a flood or pouring out its just wet.

Wow, I can't believe it took so many posts to get to what is a very simple answer. I really don't understand why you or Bill couldn't have explained and described this from the start. Why is everybody avoiding making a straight forward statement?

What we have then is a very small quantity of moisture that is felt more than seen. Probably close to what I calculated in my previous post, or close to what German described as "infinitesimal". I consider my calculations showed it to be essentially "zero". I stand by my original statement which was basically: I'll leave it up to shooters to decide if you could have an effect on accuracy if there is no cause.

Well Bill, the words I read were "Post Away!"

In what language does that mean you may not post? I won't say what I'm thinking here cause I'm trying to be civil.

I'll give you what III considered Wilburs actions to mean. I THINK he deleted your post asking IF you were allowed to post, AFTER ANSERING YOU, because the post had no reason on the forum (IE: nothing in it).

Just to clarify how forums work. When Wilbur decides you are no longer allowed to post, you will not be able to log in and at the bottom of the screen it will say:

Posting Rules
You may NOT post new threads
You may NOT post replies
You may NOT post attachments
You may NOT edit your posts

Right now, yours says:

Posting Rules
You may post new threads
You may post replies
You may post attachments
You may edit your posts

Look at the lower left corner of the screen.

Lynn,

Now you see why I have avoided any of these threads, even indirectly associated with Bill.

Someday, this issue (immagined or real) may be next bridge to cross in shooters efforts to shoot smaller. I, and a lot of others it seems, feel otherwise right now. Bear in mind that how big a problem is to you depends upon what other problems you need solved at the present. The only person who can answer that is you (knowing your other problems and how big/small they are).

Just in case you didn't notice, folks don't always agree with me either. Yes it can be frustrating. I don't have the solution to that either. Those who are better at ignoring things have the solution.

Some folks don't want anyone to give them the answers cause they take pride in the fact that they do what they do on their own. They're not beholding to anyone. Not everyone in BR is on a "quest" and some don't even make money at this sport.

To each their own. I do sincerely wish you luck with the water thing and I hope it pans out for you into some quantifiable amount on paper. I intend to chase other issues and I think I've got plenty of em. It does appear that you're working alone on this and I do mean alone. Even bill won't help you.

Given that you have what appears to me like a lot of time and resourses, I'd say go find your own problems, come up with your own solutions and you'll be a lot farther ahead than listening to others and chasing their ideas.

I still hope you can make it to the World Open. We did set the date 6 months early on your request. We allow some really ridiculous guns now, though you'd never know by looking at the ones at the range.

Donovan,
HG strings are in the 20-25 second range. LG I'd guess in the 40's. I've seen no correlation to time between shots and fliers and I have 4 targets this year already with seriously small clusters in em. 5.9 with 1 2.8" flier. 8.3" with 5.5" fliers. 4.6 with 2.4" fliers. 5.5 with 2.4" flier. All different shots. Been shots 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10. Take your pick. All different directions too. Most I just blame the conditions, gun, bags, bullets, who knows. If anyone knew, we wouldn't have fliers would we.
